Automatic gun switch

Everytime I lay equipment down it switches to my other gun in REDSEC so ill be pushing a team with mt SMG put my recon beacon down and its automatically switched to my sniper without me realising and leaves me at a disadvantage. Why wouldnt it just stick with the gun youre holding this doesnt make sense and needs to be fixed ASAP
