Bad weekly challenges?

Has any else noticed how bad these weekly challenges are?  In the past games it usually would push you to try different playstyles, but you could usually do them in whatever game mode you enjoyed ( I know occasionally it required a specific mode like Rush, but not often and not a lot of that mode ).  This is just shoving you in to all the new RedSec modes that I am not only not interested in, but strongly dislike.  I went from absolutely loving this game, to dreading turning it on just a day later.  I played for an hour and a half last night, barely made progress on the challenges and never played a minute of a mode I wanted.  I had zero enjoyment and very little progress.

I personally think it is unacceptable to force game modes on players in the weeklies.  What happens to the new RedSec, free-to-play players when Conquest is a weekly?  They just can't complete it?  Or will it only ever require RedSec modes and screw over the veteran BF player base?  They knew this would bother people because they added the "rerolls" for those weekly challenges, but there's a limit of 5 on them.  Do you get more the next week?  Do you have to buy more?

I never missed a single weekly in BF2042 for probably close to 2 years.  I enjoyed it, even if I was frustrated sometimes.  I could knock them out in a night usually and then just get back to playing normally.  Maybe I got particularly bad challenges this week, but doing the math, I'd have to spend my entire playtime for the week in RedSec modes to complete these challenges and progress the pass.  I'd rather either just not engage in the battle pass or find a different game to play altogether.  I really like unlocking things and feeling like I'm making progress on something while I'm playing a game, but when I know I'm not really making progress, or I'm hating playing, it feels pretty bad.

Does anyone else feel this way, or is that just me?

For reference, my weekly missions I'm complaining about are:
- Capture Zones in Gauntlet: Deadlock (0/1)
- Complete Headhunter mission in Battle Royal (0/5)
- Loot superior items in Battle Royal (0/1)
- Win matches in Strikepoint (0/3)
- Complete matches in Gauntlet (0/5)

If I do enough of that garbage, I earn the right to do my "Bonus":
- Complete missions in Battle Royale (0/15)

There are also a few weapon/playstyle ones which I'm fine with.  No complaints there.

Maybe I'm just a grumpy old man (39 years old).  I have absolutely no problem with BF having a Battle Royale, or a knockout "Fall Guys" style mode, or a Counter Strike rip-off mode of Strikepoint.  I have played all of those games.  I hope those modes do well too, but I if I wanted those I'd just go play those games.  I come to Battlefield for Conquest and Breakthrough that nobody else does as well as BF.

TLDR: Please don't make me spend my entire week playing modes I don't want to be in, or else have to completely give up on caring about progress in this game.  I'd like to buy a battle pass every season, and you guys probably want my money, but I certainly won't do it again if this is what the weekly challenges are like.

  • I agree 100%.

I like BF for the variety. I play a mix of large and small map game modes, objective modes the lot. Overall I am not very impressed with Redsec. The gauntlet mode is OK, but again, nothing to get too excited about.

I'm very disappointed, like you, that more that half of my challenges were for the new BR type modes that I don't really want to play... I think they will turn players away if they're forcing them into specific modes etc

And to add to the disappointment, there's a bug where if you have a challenge tracked, you can't reroll it, but if you try, it will still cost you a reroll token... (yet ANOTHER bug with tracked challenges.. )

On 'the other game' when they've had seasonal events etc, they've often had challenges you can progress by either playing MP, Zombies or WZ. I think this is a much better system.

#DicePlease. Let people play what they want to play!

I just made a post complaining about the same thing. Been playing for 2 days straight. Can't find a match of deadlock in gauntlet. Honestly, all of the challenges in this game are complete trash. Some of them are not even accomplishable unless you use the portal like getting 6,000 repair as an engineer and a single match.

  • The VAST majority of players, purchased BF6, because it was ,,, well, BF, not arcade rubbish (LOL) which is what we got.  We trusted EA to keep their word after the beta, when they said,  "it was only a test on small maps, the larger BF style maps were coming ,,,," they lied

To put this into perspective, they maps are that bad , that there is only 1 map you can complete the sniper challenge on, the rest arent big enough to allow the range to get the shots over 200m, 1 map, that is disgusting

I've put more than 130 hours in so far, I've hated most of it, being forced by bugged challenges to play types of scenarios on Arcade trash maps, that I detest, the very reason I stopped COD years ago when they went that direction, now on top of everything else the Weekly challenges are forcing us to play a part of a game, most if us DID NOT WANT, NEVER ASKED FOR , and would never have purchased the game to play, without EA's lies after the BETA

Lets be honest , they are more interested in selling garbage skins , than fixing bugs, the season pass again punishes players who wont buy it because we are sick of the lies and the bugs they cant be bothered fixing, your forced to complete endless tabs for items your not allowed to have, its done to make you feel you have to buy the Upgraded pass FOMO

Also, I need to highlight something, the Latency your shown in game, MUST be fake, 40ping does not normally make a game rubber band, and become unplayable, its not a great ping, 240 fps becomes a lil redundant at 40, but in many , many games it would be completely playable, not here, I truly believe we are being mislead in regards to in game performance and latency, Strange that the AMD overlay, is not allowed to function in this 1 game, Dune used anti cheat, and it had no problem displaying the Adrenalin overlay??

I personally think the way Challenges were handled in BF6 in general were terrible; battlepass challenges are even worse.

Challenges to unlock cosmetics, sure, those are fine. Even the Weapon unlock challenges aren't that bad (use a weapon in the same class to unlock the new weapon).

But all the other challenges are complete garbage. Battlefield was a sandbox shooter. We get the guns, gadgets and maps and we make magic happen through organic play; challenges telling people what to play and how to play just don't mesh with a sandbox game like that.

Kit items should not have been locked behind challenges; kits should just unlock through either general leveling, or leveling the class. Battlepass should not force people into certain game modes or to do ridiculous things to get the battlepass complete. Game would be much better if Battlepass was just experience based (adjusted to account for no challenges) and people could just play how they want to complete it.

Between the challenges and the fact that even doing normal matchmaking on the popular modes bots are just everywhere, I don't even want to play this game anymore; and I've noticed a drop off of players in my clan (over 900 in discord) actually getting on and playing too. And I can't help but wonder if its these little things that are just making us say **bleep** it, I'll go play something else.

    Agree with everything you said.
I feel like the netcode issues will be address, they have mentioned now that they are working on it.
The cheating problem is huge, I assume they are working on that too, but haven't mentioned it.

But it's all the other little things, especially challenges, the insane weapon attachment grind for each weapon(starting a new weapon is a chore), Redsec getting jammed down the throat of Battlefield players, it all just feels...dirty.  Not fun, I know that.
I still haven't lost all hope, but the silence from the devs is deafening, and not a good sign.

Forcing people play non-BF mods in BF is low! Person who came up with that idea probably never played BF.

You mean the exec that's never played BF and was just trying to inflate the REDSEC metrics?

    ... :(

  • Same feeling. Even funnier that you can delete redsec (which I did) and you still get these challenges. So why you (BF studio) dont make a single player challenges??? It's so dumb.
