Look, we know this does not effect everyone, but one of the joy's in gaming it being able to play the game with all of your friends at once. Most of the time 4 players is a good number, but with a game of this size and scale, friends from multiple groups will be playing, and I wish we could all be on the same team persistently. I'm ignorant to the implications this causes for matchmaking, but I know many people would like to que with over 4 friends.
Here's 3 ideas:
- Allow squads to link up so they can matchmake with each other from game to game. In this case you wouldn't increase squad size but you would allow each squad (max 4) to stay on the same team and join the same game over and over. If it's an issue for matchmaking, make it so only two squads can link at once. This gives groups 8 players total, split between 2 squads.
- Create platoons. Allow for platoons of friends like the game "Squad" where all your friends can be in the same platoon and you can then choose how to split the roles. Like Leader A, B, C. This gives a lot more flexibility to the amount of players that can be together and how you split them up. Also dev's could adjust the amount of total players allowed within the platoon to optimize for gameplay and matchmaking.
- Just prioritize keeping friends together through matchmaking. If you are in a game, and someone on your friend list is searching for a match, prioritize putting them in your game with you. After each game is over, and the game automatically starts searching for a new one, have the matchmaking prioritize putting friends together on the same team, or at bare minimum in the same lobby. Add back the switch teams option in the menu and let the friends figure it out.
Again, I am ignorant to the complication(s) this creates, but i do know the reason people stick to a game is because their friends play it too. Even golden era COD used to allow up to 6 players to que and I think that was some of the best memories I have, getting all the friends from my class to play together. I don't know if any of this is possible, but i have seen many people talk about it online.. We really have high hopes for this game and I think this could exponentially increase the longevity of this game's life.
Thank you for coming to my TED Talk. <3
- egyptdaman27 days agoSeasoned NewcomerHas anyone found out if the squad size will be larger than the beta? At any given moment, there could be at least 8 of us in a party ready to play battlefield. It would be nice if we could join our friends in the same game like the good old days - SpiritofGames26 days agoSeasoned AdventurerAccording to a thread that was posted here not long ago, the gist of it was that large squads, all voice connected, would be overpowered for the game. If I recall correctly one poster was suggesting squads of 16. I think the idea is that the game devs would rather see us play as Team versus Team, and four-man squads are really just incidental, basic organization. Unless I hear different, especially at this late stage of the game, I assume squads will remain as four-man squads.
- danisoff26 days agoHeroI believe it would be very difficult to balance. Imagine a premade team of eight players joining a 64 player server. I think they should keep the limit at four, as it seems to be the current plan. - ChemicalDan25 days agoSeasoned TravelerThat makes 0 sense on the basis that you can just join your friend and get more people into the same game. The only annoying part is one team needs to then leave at end of game and rejoin again.
So either they need to remove the ability to join people or make it so that you can go in as up to 8 and then its split into 2 squads.

- Tom_Peter521 days agoSeasoned NoviceGood job EA. You made the same mistake as you did with 2042 that made my 7+ friend group unsub and quit within a month.
You are losing at least 6 sales from me and my friends. I can only imagine how many other large friend groups feel the same way.
When meanwhile, Battlefront 2 had 10 man parties and friends not in your squad were yellow so they weren't lost among all the other blue dot randoms.
You could have easily implemented matchmaking to match large squads on opposite teams.
Regardless, Battlefield has NEVER been a highly competitive game. It's a casual shooter and it's large scale, it's meant to be played with big friend groups.
