The difference being (IIRC) that BF3 had significantly fewer total levels to level through (40?), but you unlocked guns while doing so. And in BF4 you had 100 (then 110, 120, 130, 140) total levels and just earned battlepacks, but then weapon unlocks were behind challenges rather than levels? At least that's what I remember, someone correct me if I'm wrong.

I would like to see the BF3 level system return or a mix between BF3 and BF4

I'm in the bf3 progression was perfect camp.
danisoff I got my bucket in the last ever game I played on 360, was on Ziba tower, my proudest ever video game achievement, my 5000+ melee kills a close second.

I don't want any form prestige, maybe an option for players that want to re-unlock stuff again? /shrug ultimately in that regard.
That said, what EinCardiiz said, something along those lines where the first ranks are relatively easy to breeze through just being XP requirement, but the higher ranks requiring some level of proficiency in multiple aspects would be cool (similar to BF2 in ranking/medals/etc). I don't want to hamstring a player getting their weapon unlocks or whatever until they've put 300 hours into a specific class, as that is unrealistic by today's gaming standards. But having a rank/tier/icon to strive for meaning that you did more than grind rank to get to S999 would be cool.

Battlefield 3 was mint.
For BF6. I would like if Levels 1–50 follow the standard progression, with level 50 earning you the rank of Colonel 1. From there, you enter the Colonel tiers. Advance to Colonel 2 you essentially have to get 1-50 XP again. The leveling system was nearly perfect but was unfortunately ruined in newer games like Battlefield V and Battlefield 2o42. Battlefield 3 had an ideal progression system, it gave players a meaningful reason to keep playing while still feeling rewarding. Seeing a level 100 player in Battlefield 3 actually meant something. In contrast, the leveling system in Battlefield 2o42 feels bland and sloppy by comparison.

Personally I can do without a prestige system and just keep the current method 2042 has. Could perhaps add a new set of levels each season. Having to unlock everything again kinda gets a bit tiresome especially if a favorite item is a more difficult or later tier unlock.
