Really, you’re saying the player base needs to be fixed, not the game.
That being said, I do think they could do more to push for better gameplay. Things like showing obj capture before KDR in the scoreboard to deemphasize the latter, not showing overall kills but only offensive and defensive kills, making the points you get for class-related actions and offensive and defensive kills even more rewarding than straight up kills less, etc. Also do not give any score nor stats to anything accomplished from an HQ area.
Ultimately, players go where designers take them. If you can spend all game with a sniper rifle on a hill and get in the top five of the scoreboard by shooting down enough random enemies and never getting close to an obj, why would you play any differently?
But ultimately, it’s going to have to be about community servers. I’m a bit wary of that, as they can turn out to not be very inclusive of players who genuinely try but are not good enough, but I think that will the solution in the end.
