Bf6 late feedback
New testing videos released and it got me thinking about the game again. Should've done this right after public test when the impressions were fresh but for some reason didn't so i guess i'll do it now.
I liked the game in general but there were a couple of things that felt off and i wanted to talk about these specific things.
First, suppression. I feel like getting shot in this game gives the opposite effect of what it should be. Instead of keeping your head down there is a little grey marker that reveals direction of a shooter that on the contrary made me want to peek the person shooting at me because i know his position. This direction marker feels like an accessibility option for people with hearing disabilities and if enabled should make directional sounds of shots less pronounced to not give advantage for everyone else, i believe that is how it is usually implemented in other games, Fortnite had a system like that. Also i think it was lacking in sound and visual effects. I don't want it to be Squad level, but more intense than it is now. Suppressing a recon felt useless and when i also played as one i didn't care about getting shot, easily could get a headshot on a guy who was shooting at me and go on without interruption, it felt like a shooting gallery with minor inconveniences. And scope glare was stupidly big, you knew exactly where sniper was but couldn't do anything about it, only other recon could effectively counter other recon. I wish recon could be a little bit stealthier but punished more when spotted, so if sniper position was revealed and you couldn't kill him at least you could suppress him and he would need to retreat/change position/keep his head down at least for some time instead of peaking same angle over and over until one of you is dead. And I didn't use a rangefinder back then so when i saw videos of sniping in a new playtest with a rangefinder that automatically adjusts your scope it feels even easier now. I wish scope was adjusted manually or at least you could use your reticle, it is harder but much more satisfying.
UI. Some elements have too much info some have too little. I really like customising my hud so i like how it is done in bf6 but it could be even better. Many elements can be turned off, that is great. For me it still looks a bit cluttered, i wish customisation was more detailed. For example I don't need think i need to contstantly know what is beyond my screen and how far away is it (capture points, revives etc.), what my keybinds for primary secondary and gadgets are, sure this info will be useful for someone and it should be in the game, but having an option to turn something on your hud off is always great, bonus points if an element is customisable itself like your squad names and hp bars have a minimalistic option, another bonus point if it the position on your screen can be changed. Didn't end up using colourblind options, default setting was easiest to use for me, in bf4 i remember using deuteranopia. Another strange thing that is lacking are cardinal directions on minimap, voicelines when pinging enemy location use them but there are none on map, even 2042 has a north marker, at least something.
TTK. This is a problem of almost any bf game on launch so maybe it will change like it always have. But right now it is too high for my liking. I was playing bf4 back to back with bf6 beta, and in 4 it felt like you need 1-2 bullets less to kill someone which is ideal for me. It can be said about gunplay feel in general: 6 is good but 4 is better. Have been returning to 4 again and again and it never disappointed.
These are small things i thought a lot about when playing beta. It was great but could be even better, that's what tests are for. Hoping for the best.
