Not sure my answer will quite fit your question, but I thought about something that might be interesting. I'm getting tired of "racing game" BF6 when you have to constantly run from one capture point to another because the other team is rushing them and leaving. It's very difficult to try and defend as most often those guys arrive in groups of 5+ (supported by a tank). But non stop running from an area to the next for 20 minutes is not my cup of tea.
So I thought it could be interesting to have a game mode in between Breakthrough and Conquest. I mean a conquest map in which you can only capture certain areas from a couple others (think of the "grid" system in Planetside 2 as an example). That means it would be impossible for a team to capture objectives that are too far away from the places they are controlling. Sort of Breakthrough game mode but with a back and forth mechanics for the contested area(s).
