Bot Backfill nerfed in small markets

Noticed this yesterday. Played the new maps for a while, then decided to go back to the vanilla maps. In the past, if you waited a couple of minutes, and not enough players were waiting, the bots would automatically backfill so that a game could start.

This seems to have been disabled for the vanilla maps.

In smaller markets, this means that a new game will never spin up.

I guess DICE are trying to get players onto the new map, and save server costs.

This may not be a problem in larger markets, but is a real issue for smaller markets  e.g. Oceania, where there are never enough players to spin up a server unless backfill is enabled.

Hope DICE reverse this soon!

Yup. Killing backfill killed about 75% of the playerbase. ironically. lol

  • Never noticed i will give the vanilla maps a go tonight, but seriously forcing people to play the new map is wild..give it a month and everyone will be back on other games

  • If this was for the first week of the new season, players would understand the intent. DICE should fess up to players, rather than secretly changing the previous rules. A simple line in the patch notes would suffice.

  • Whilst i had this issue initially now the only maps i am forced to play are mirak valley, east wood and the new map.

Most of the games are filled with players and a few bots.

But mirak valley back to back for 4 games was the worst, even quitting the game and rejoining put me back into the same game.
