Bot deaths don't count, but bot kills do?

Yeah it definitely takes the incentive away to play casual now 😔
Dice may be trying to take the incentive away from players.
Perhaps Casual Mode was too popular and now they want to make it as dull and monotonous as possible to force people to the other modes.
