Bring Back 64-Player Matches as the Standard
I really think Battlefield 6 needs to move back toward 64-player matches being the standard for its larger-scale modes.
One of the biggest things that makes Battlefield feel like Battlefield is the scale. When there are too few players on a map, the game can feel empty, objectives can feel less important, and there is less of that constant chaos and teamwork that made previous Battlefield games so much fun.
I understand that DICE has reduced player counts on certain maps and modes because of balance and map-flow concerns. But instead of simply lowering the player count, I think the better solution would be to adjust or expand the maps where necessary and give players the choice between different player counts.
64-player matches should at least be available as a standard option.
For example:
- 64-player Conquest
- 64-player Breakthrough
- Smaller-player-count versions for players who prefer a more focused experience
- Portal/server-browser options that allow players to choose their preferred player count
There is clearly still an audience that wants the larger-scale Battlefield experience. There are even recent community discussions asking for 64-player Breakthrough to return, with players specifically saying that the larger player count is part of what makes Battlefield fun.
Battlefield shouldn’t be afraid of being chaotic. The chaos is part of the identity of the franchise. Running toward an objective with dozens of players, tanks pushing forward, aircraft overhead, explosions everywhere, and squads trying to coordinate is what separates Battlefield from other shooters.
At the very least, give us the choice.
Bring back 64-player matches as a permanent option. Let the players decide how they want to experience Battlefield.
