Call to Action for Battlefield: Bring Back the Classic DNA!
I have been a loyal fan of this franchise for many years. I still regularly play Battlefield 2 on my laptop, Battlefield 1 on my Xbox, and Battlefield 2142 because I am in love with the series' roots. However, for the last 5 to 7 years, no Battlefield game has given us that legendary feeling. I am on the verge of losing all hope.
2042 and beyond never felt like real Battlefield games. Even 2042 felt somewhat better than the current state, but recent iterations are simply unacceptable.
Core Issues:
Excessive Speed and Nauseating Pace: The faster the game gets, the more players it pushes away. The constant high-speed running creates an experience that feels like playing Call of Duty or Apex Legends. We left Call of Duty precisely because we grew tired of that arcade gameplay style. Now we see the exact same mistake happening to Battlefield.
Lack of Gunplay Impact & Fun: There is no satisfying hit feedback or gunplay punch left. The overly arcadey, childish direction takes away all the fun. The majority of the core player base does not want hyper-fast gameplay, and you are losing massive amounts of players because of this.
Straying From Tactical Roots: We do not want a full-arcade run-and-gun game. We want a game closer to a light milsim—where teamwork, strategy, and immersion matter. Just like in Battlefield 1942, Battlefield Vietnam, Battlefield 2, Battlefield: Bad Company 2, Battlefield 2142, and Battlefield 4.
The Solution & Call to EA/DICE Executives:
I am addressing management directly: Only the original Battlefield developers can save this franchise. If they are willing to return, please re-hire the veteran developers. The new dev teams simply fail to capture the soul of what makes Battlefield special. If you continue down this path with the current design philosophy, future titles like Battlefield 6 will not succeed.
A Concept Idea for the Next Title:
If you want to bring the franchise back to glory, here is a concept idea:
Battlefield 1982: Set the game in an alternate history 1980s parallel universe. A gritty, tactical, atmospheric cold-war-turned-hot conflict between the Warsaw Pact and NATO.
If properly executed with the right atmosphere, this could be an absolute masterpiece.
However, I must repeat: to bring this vision to life, we desperately need veteran developers back. Please take this feedback into consideration for upcoming titles and return Battlefield to its tactical, iconic roots.
