Personally, I don't really see the point of the spawn beacon being on recon anymore considering it provides a 1 time respawn to the owner and acts as a spawn location for the squad. That's because every squad member is a spawn location in BF6 assuming they are not in active combat.
I'm guessing they didn't want a bunch of recon sitting somewhere high or far from the combat staring down a scope at some unsuspecting victim. Which is funny because the maps are full of roof campers anyway, at least this way they cant respawn to their little nest when they die.
As someone who frequently plays recon, I have found that the role for recon in BF6 is in fact ... Recon. I kit myself out with the Drone/ proximity detector grenade along side motion sensors. I assist my team members by being on or near the flag and provide enemy detection and overwatch. Map awareness is very important.
