Compass or compass rose on mini map

I have no ability to tell which direction is north without opening the main map page. When the game says a sniper has been identified to your north or a vehicle is to your west. I have no idea which direction that is with a quick glance. There is no compass at the top of the screen and the mini map rotates with you so that's no help. The callout becomes useless information in the moment. This is going off the assumption that these call outs are correct and not just fluff added to sound like a real war. If they are fluff they need to be removed as they can cause confusion. If they are indeed real, we need a way of knowing which direction they are quickly without having to stop and pull up a main map screen to figure out which way the callout is and then get shot while doing it.

Also please make the button that opens the map close the map. I shouldn't have to move my hand from the M key to the ESC key to get out of the map.

You can close this ticket. I see now that there is a compass on a streamers game. I do not have a compass and none of my friends have a compass. This looks like a bug.

I have the exact same issue so if it’s a bug or not it would be an awesome thing to adress.

  • It's under advanced hud in the graphics tab there you can turn on the compass

the map button doesn't "toggle" as it should. I bound it mouse 3 so I can open the big map with that mouse button, but have to hit esc or M to close which defeats the purpose of binding it to a mouse button in the first place.

That bug still existed in the second open beta.

If you have a mouse that has gaming software that allows custom binds, you can make a macro like this:
    Type: Sequence
Then for the "On press" action you bind "M down" and directly after "M up" to simulate M being pressed
Then for the "On Release" action you bind "M down" and directly after "M up" to simulate M being pressed

Now you have a map that opens while you hold the button you assign it to, and closes when you release the button, for example a side button on the mouse.
