Corpses

When a soldier dies, wouldn't it be more realistic to leave the corpse on the ground? That is, when a soldier dies, the corpse disappears in a few seconds and this is not realistic, I think the game would be boring without corpses)))

I'm not aware of any that are 64 person multiplayer games though. A single player game is not difficult to imagine (heck, games like Hitman and such the bodies just pile up) but when you have hundreds/thousands of corpses on the ground, with potential ragdoll physics and such of them needing to move around/be calculated, it would be an enormous hit on performance in pretty short order.

It’s not necessarily like every body should stay there indefinitely, ofcourse that would be ridiculous. But games like The Division 2 or even Destiny 2, the NPC’s that you kill lay there for quite a while, but it never really piles up or becomes cluttered. It’s fairly delicate, enough to leave a trace of what happened, for a short while, but not long after they disappear, just leaving a bloodstain.

I don’t know, I for one like it and don’t think it has to stressful for the game engine.

But obviously I realize this is just nice to talk about but realistically this is never going to be something they are willing to invest resources in to implement it.

I understand that it would be cool for an immersion perspective. But in both of those cases, you're looking at an enormously smaller player count. I believe they max out around 4-8 total players? And then you're only really speaking of NPCs which also have a finite limit (I believe). Trying to keep track of any additional resources on a server in play-space becomes more and more difficult. Then you're also needing to consider who can see them, if they are interactable (do they block bullets/explosions?). If so, then you probably have to have it so that all 64 players (+ the server) have those bodies, their locations and their current ragdolled position to be kept in memory and constantly updating with each small movement.

Long story short, I think it is a cool idea but for significantly smaller-scope games be it single-player or small PvE/Co-Op.

In short, anuway the bodies should be on the ground, but not until the end of the game, but at least for 2 minutes. Dead bodies on the ground really create an atmosphere of battle, I think this issue should be resolved somehow.

Nah 2 minutes is too long. That would mess up my gameplay habbits. If I see a teammate's dead body to me that's a clue an enemy might be nearby

  • It'd start raising very quick issues of people hiding inside bodies which is typically seen as a cheap move. Another thing is performance becoming more variable with all these extra "props" added to the game especially if youre in a high ticket mode where theyd really stack up.
