Still a three friend party limit for BF6?

Reading BF2042 forums and the like it looks like the limitation of three friends (a four person party) is still there years later, even though they said it was a limitation they'd look into overcoming and something that was expressed as a desire recently when the community was asked about what they wanted from a server browser...

To be specific, since EA Connect party limit is 4 players and the 'server browser' is only for Portal, you cannot play on the main Battlefield servers with the wider Battlefield community with more than three friends.

Any more than three and they cannot join your party, so they will no doubt be sent to a different server.

The only way to all get on the same one would be using a server browser, but since EA are saying they think Portal 'solves' this, you can only play on community created servers.

So... Portal does not address this at all.

I can only imagine they want their match-making systems to not have to cope multiple squads existing on the same servers?

It can't be a technical limitation that they haven't been able to address since the release of BF2042, so what is it?

I agree its annoying, however you can still join your friends and then split squads if you are with 5+ people.
In the game menu go to social (Tab), Press F2 on the friend that's in the server and you can press join game. Hope this will help anyone currently facing this issue

That's not a solution either. The server only starts when it is full or almost full.

In addition, there are 10+ of us who want to play together.
A squad of 4 is fine. But it should be possible to link different squads together so that the entire group can join a specific server.

Indeed. Squads of 4 is fine, but 'party' should be any size.

Now, I get that it might damage balancing. If it is the case that a balanced match cannot be found because of a party trying to join with all experts, for example, then it should put some on opposing teams.

I don't know if it's laziness or just control-freakery, but the 4-person party sucks.

    100% agreed.

Among all of the negative takes for BF2042, this was literally my most disliked part of 2042. I had a friend-group that regularly played every night, we'd chat on discord and play for a couple of hours. Once that group expanded to 5 or 6 people it absolutely sucked to be the last one or two people to login to play. You would end up spending half of the matches that the squad joined just looking at a queue screen while looking at your phone hoping to get in and that someone would crash or drop out (then you're just rolling the dice to figure out which team you would be on). Absolutely hated this.

Just tried it, but when i press the join game, nothings happens.

If it works It would seem like a good work around, but an easier way maybe would be better, like next til join party.

  • How do you guys want to play together with friends on these tiny hallway shooter COD maps? Everything is so hyper there's no sense to even try to talk to each other. I tried it yesterday and last week this is horrible! No sense to talk to friends. Maps are too small. Everything is too hyper! I know large maps are coming... don't calm me down. But only 3?

Are they going to put the main play mode and playlist on the main screen with three maps only? All out warfare on large scale maps, conquest.

Even the mountain map is tiny in terms of battlefield. They trick you with the mountains around but actually the boundaries are very close it's like a shape of a cucumber you are forced to go straight ahead can't go around or flank or anything. This game so far is absolutely horrible saying this as a long time battlefield fan. I absolutely went back to Battlefield 2042 last night and Battlefield five and Battlefield one. I almost puked playing on the New York map yesterday. You also don't need to tell me that I will not be missed. What I'm doing is just expressing my love for a franchise I adored for 20 years just like a loved relative,  it's hard to let go of. 😔

  • I find you can move more slowly with your squad and be effective. The fact that only one of you has to survive and can revive all the rest is a big squad tactics advantage. If you have one of each class you have massive utility and it works well.

Sure, others are running around like headless chickens. It doesn't mean you have to and I'm finding that actually having a care gives advantage.

We are new to the maps too. Headless chicken mode doesn't care about map knowledge. As we get to know the maps tactical play will be more and more effective, where the CoD kid tactic will not get any better.

As for the maps, I think people are forgetting what BF4 was actually like. Metro and Locker, anyone? Liberation Peak is pretty much Siege of Shanghai. Siege of Cairo is pretty much Zavod.

Anyway, I'm finding it's better than BF5 and BF2042 already. BF6 will probably never be as good as BF1 in all regards, but it's not bad.

P.S. I've played thousands of hours in all versions on BF (well, I got a refund on BF5 and BF2042 because they were too much Battle Royale and Hero Shooter and horribly disappointing in other ways) and I doubt BF1 will ever be topped, but we all have our thoughts on what Battlefield 'is'.
