The maps are one of the reasons why it feels too fast and plays closer in speed to cod than to the BF of old. Things need to be more spread out on most of the maps so that there are more open battles in between zones. Most of these new maps don't even feel designed to well support large, armored vehicles either. Yes, there are battles in between zones right now but those battles are lightning quick and feel very CQB'ish in closed off smaller areas (cod) and not BF'ish (more open battle area needed for the encounters).
Some of the BF2042 maps are actually alot more fun/entertaining to play on, IMO. I can only hope they will bring back a bunch of old map remakes into Portal, from previous BF games.
Are the newer maps made to be more realistic in appearance? Yes, it would seem so. But that doesn't mean they will also play better. Realism doesn't usually equate to better gameplay itself. Although it does usually create a more immersive experience in general.

Yeah I agree with that.

After they revised the maps they really did improve 2042. Redacted is a close combat map but it is the most fun, especially to get grenade kills. BF 6 is no fun in its current state and I almost kind of dread playing it. I wonder if EA could do a BF 6 version of Redacted?

Yeah, I gotta admit — 2042 has come a long way, and I actually had some fun during the Free Pass before BF6 launched. But how long did it take them to get there? 4 years just to make the game somewhat playable. I’m afraid the devs don’t have that kind of time with this one.

I agree, spreading out a bit would be great. Liberation peak, for example has a great length, it just feels very narrow. I'd love to see some re-imagining of some of the BF1 maps, actually...those were TONS of fun to play

I agree, yesterday I tried to at least start doing the PSR challenge and I have to say that it opened my eyes because the maps are really small, we actually have BF5 movement but it's improved, but BF5 had bigger maps there, it wasn't a problem for anyone, neither for pilots nor for vehicles, and while trying to do this challenge I almost lost my mental health xD because there is nowhere on those maps where you can snip at 200m, if only they would make the maps bigger it wouldn't be a problem because I think they are very simply made, like the map in Brooklyn, there is a bridge there and I expected that there would be a point there, but nothing like that, it's as simple as if someone didn't know how to make maps in BF

the problem as well is is that they very much restrict movement, even on their new big maps. like blackwell fields, you can't flank around the outside objective over hills. and lets not even get started on the airspace of that map. many maps are also so lane based it is as if i am playing league of legends, and even that game has more flanking potential

Yes I agree that some of the maps on BF2042 were actually better than the maps on this game, which is unbelievable! The maps on this game are smaller and completely forgettable, they are so boring and actually quite similar in alot of ways! It feels like no talent has gone into the design of them, they just feel like generic COD maps from days of old! They feel like they have just been auto created by Ai or something and have had no thought or human input in designing them!
