Let's not forget BF2042 didn't hit it's stride until a year later...that being said I'm not here to defend the game's faults.
From my time playing the game:
#1- TTK is wildly inconsistent, visually, it registers one or two shots max...yet the damage feedback shows 4 with a DMR. Other times I will land half half my RPK clip in someone from behind...only for them to turn around and melt me. This is one of my biggest irritants with this game currently
#2- Both Shotgun and SMG ranges need to be majorly nerfed...right now both their ranges are way too much
#3- defilade- This really needs to be looked at, there's been plenty of times where I've been shot/downed through a hill. Now if it was a small one and I was running with my head up above that hilltop, I've got no issues with that...but I have complete cover with a massive hill and bullets are passing through. I find this same issue happens with tank wrecks/cars...those are still solid objects viable for use as cover, bullets shouldn't be passing straight through them
#4- Your anti-cheat was good...but it seems as they always do, cheaters have found their way around it. We're coming across guys camping in HQ on liberation peak hitting headshots with iron sight SMG's. We've also seen the "fully automatic" sniper rifle phenomenon, which admittedly could just be server lag, all possibilities considered. Spin-and-lock on hipfire headshots (x4). The 1200 M ironsight sniper headshots. I get it, some people truly are just that good, at least with a scope, and at closer ranges with iron sights. That being said, turning off cross-play all but eliminated the issues. Make of that what you will.
#5- Maps don't feel like true BF maps, they feel smaller, less options for attacking points (conquest). Honestly, they feel like CoD maps, with 2 or three lanes and that's about it. Blackwell Fields, for example...snipers and tanks just camp the hills, or sit on C because that's where the majority of the fighting seems to take place. Larger more spread out maps would be a welcome addition
6#- Weapon unlocks...most of them aren't really worth the work it took to unlock them. We don't need anything too crazy, but maybe the different bullets do different base damage, for example. OR something like the different barrels/muzzles that have different velocities combine with different bullets to create more base damage.
#7- Movement could be slowed down a bit, while not completely hyperspastic, you could tell they're at least trying to attract CoD players...which is not really something that this game needs. I personally think you'll get a true sense of how this game plays once CoD is released and those players will migrate back there. Attracting more players obviously is a good thing for the Pubs and Devs, but the type of players I'd say is what's more important to the community...I could be way off there but that's my two cents
