Seems like you’re missing the whole point of what we’re trying to tell you. I am saying that matchmaking has ruined gaming experience in Battlefield games, that's why we wanna bring back the ORIGINAL server browser.
These are real server browsers with FULL admin control:
Yes, I missed the point that you didn't write. You said you wanted a server browser of dedicated hosted servers. We have that. Matchmaked servers aren't dedicated. It's like asking for a redsec server browser. Just like redsec and gauntlet, the matchmake servers are instanced and move and change to fill current demand. You can't browse them when their roles are constantly changing. Their roles need to constantly change to fill current demand. For example, if 500 people in a section of state on xbox suddenly decide to play breakthrough with crossplay off, a server which might have just played a round of conquest with pc players suddenly becomes xbox-only breakthrough. You can't browse for that, and if you did and tried to join 30 seconds after the change, you would have a bad experience.
So, you want to get rid of matchmake servers? I don't think that is happening. Even if it did happen, I think you would be unhappy with the experience for reasons you would discover such as bad pings and bad performance for the game you want to play. Matchmaking sucks in many ways, but it also solves many issues.
If you want to browse servers, browse hosted experiences. Don't like the options? Make yours. Don't like the lack of XP for the experience you make, keep using your voice.

I wouldn’t be happy? Man, I used to be so happy finding servers I actually wanted to play on in previous BF titles — so it really seems like you don’t understand the problem here. Don't you really remember how fine it was?

Yes, I remember how good it was. But those days are gone. Remember having to rent servers and paying money and some providers being terrible? Remember asking for donations? It wasn't all sunshine and roses. Even if we could have that back, I don't think the majority would get involved. It would probably be a dead game compared to what it is now. You can still play BF:BC2, but there are almost no servers, no one does, and the ping and performance is terrible as a result.
I think the FREE hosting we get from Portal is an amazing compromise. All we need to do is get our community to quit making garbage portal servers OR talk EA into properly vetting and approving them (so we don't have servers that are just spawn kill servers or infinite falling or killing bots trapped in a box with no weapons), then we can get XP back, and we can all love it almost as much as the old experience we loved.
Last night, according to the server browser, there were 5,000 people "playing" in duplicated hosts of a server that simply spawns you under the map and you fall infinitely for 4 minutes until the round ends in a draw. These types of servers are garbage and are trying exploit stupid stuff that has nothing to do with gaming. Why do they exist? Because there is a social media community that wants and perpetuates that. Why can't we have a community who wants good, playable, hosted experiences?
Here's my attempt: code : Z3Q8X

We may have different opinions, but I respect yours. Let’s see if anyone from the dev team or management will even respond to this.

Was reading through this discussion and I think mainly what a lot of us are looking for are persistent servers for normal matchmaking...so we can have proper map rotation, more than 3 friends join us, and for the regions outside the US and EU with lesser population...not have the lobbies disband and throw them into bot lobbies after every round.
Obviously, Dice has said portal is the answer to all this and you were asking what features is portal missing that the old system had. One large issue with portal servers is that even the vanilla or "official" experiences aren't seeded from any quick match option (like the older games), so it becomes much harder to fill the portal servers because a sizeable chunk of the player base won't bother to look in the browser. Not to mention that any normal portal server is buried among tons of crappy ones with weird rules so it's hard to find normal servers in the browser anyways. The filters to try to sort for normal servers are terrible too and frequently reset. Heck, even the official rules filter basically got broken a couple weeks ago since no experiences get the "official rules" tag anymore for some reason. Another problem is there's no team balancing option if one team has too many players, and there's no way to switch teams for balance. The admin can't even switch people between teams. Also, as of a couple days ago, now you need 20 players in a non-bot portal match to even get it to start. That makes it very hard to get a server going. Separately, the experience search is a whole other problem as it doesn't show any servers that are full...it only shows the ones that have some free slots or are empty...so people will think no one is playing some of those experiences if they use that search. We should at least be given the option to see the full servers in the experience search so we can choose to wait in queue like we can when using the server browser.
Most people just want to go back to the old server system they had from before bf2042 since matchmaking and the servers and browser were all tied together rather than two separate things like they are now. And most of the problems that we have now didn't exist in the old system. Dice could possibly make portal a viable substitute but so far it seems like they are unable to make the improvements necessary to make that happen. Plus they had 4 years during bf2042 to make a viable hybrid system and they weren't able to get it right then either. That's a lot of years to not get this right. They should just give up and go back to the old system.
