Yes, I remember how good it was. But those days are gone. Remember having to rent servers and paying money and some providers being terrible? Remember asking for donations? It wasn't all sunshine and roses. Even if we could have that back, I don't think the majority would get involved. It would probably be a dead game compared to what it is now. You can still play BF:BC2, but there are almost no servers, no one does, and the ping and performance is terrible as a result.
I think the FREE hosting we get from Portal is an amazing compromise. All we need to do is get our community to quit making garbage portal servers OR talk EA into properly vetting and approving them (so we don't have servers that are just spawn kill servers or infinite falling or killing bots trapped in a box with no weapons), then we can get XP back, and we can all love it almost as much as the old experience we loved.
Last night, according to the server browser, there were 5,000 people "playing" in duplicated hosts of a server that simply spawns you under the map and you fall infinitely for 4 minutes until the round ends in a draw. These types of servers are garbage and are trying exploit stupid stuff that has nothing to do with gaming. Why do they exist? Because there is a social media community that wants and perpetuates that. Why can't we have a community who wants good, playable, hosted experiences?
Here's my attempt: code : Z3Q8X
We may have different opinions, but I respect yours. Let’s see if anyone from the dev team or management will even respond to this.
