EA going private?

If true this is momentous. Would mean game design not needing to satisfy shareholders and the eternal YoY quest for achieving earning targets to increase share price and distribute dividends.

What gives you the idea that you'd be any better off?

It could mean all sorts of things, in both a positive and negative way. It somewhat worries me because acquisitions could potentially mean major reforms, large amount of job cuts and possibly even the shutdown of major titles in EA's line-up. Saudi Arabia's involvement could also mean that they are looking to gain more influence in the gaming space. That could translate to all sorts of changes that aren't immediately obvious, like censorship of games that go against the government narrative.

  • If you think Corporate is bad, then you have no clue why. These Investment firms are the reason why and now they want to buy out the the rest of them.
What do you expect will happen?
Based on seen experience, the worst, especially when you look into, who is invovled.
I might get surprised but EA will be dead for me as i do not trust them to have a kernel driver on my PC. EA is actually the only one for now.

I fear extreme monetization inside the games, reduced quality (safe money), advertisement inside the games. Support as it is already bad, will be completely unreachable.

Investment Firms want the same thing Corporate wants but more and faster.
I will wait with my BF6 order until i hear that this deal did no go through, which i really hope.

Paying for, or even pre-orderin, the game at this point feels incredibly uncertain. What’s stopping them from making it free-to-play later anyway, just to maximize profits? That would be a dream scenario for cheaters, free access, no consequences, while the investment firms keep profiting from their dirty little “hobby.” As far as I’m concerned, I don’t see a bright future for this franchise anymore.

Well well well... now that was fast!

Wonder what it will bring to the BF franchise...!

  • That was fast!

I foresee big changes and at a minimum the selling of all our information.
