EA/DICE are using PC players as console lobby filler

NOTE: This is not an anti console post. This is an anti cross-play post and a criticism of EA/DICE decisions and design re. match-making.

Having experienced quite a few PC cross-play OFF lobbies now it's becoming clear that the match-making system prefers to put PC players into console lobbies than PC lobbies.

I've swapped back and forth at various times of day and asked in chat who is cross-play on or off and to me it seems that PC players are being used to fill console lobbies as a priority over PC cross-play off lobbies, ie. If you play cross-play on you get lobbies full of real players. If you play cross-play off you get bots, sometimes the whole lobby, even moments after leaving a fully non-bot lobby.

As if not giving the option to opt out of cross-play for PC players wasn't obvious enough insulting console bias, it would seem it goes further such that when PC players manage to work out how to avoid cross-play, they are left in lobbies full of bots even when there are thousands of PC players available.

NOTE 2: It may well be that console players that turn cross-play off also struggle to get non-bot lobbies as perhaps the match-making simply favours cross-play on players rather than trying to fill the lobbies of those that actually have a preference. I would not be surprised if EA/DICE are not biased, but are incompetent in this regard and are serving neither side well.

Either way, it would seem that cross-play and match-making is fundamentally flawed as far as player preference is concerned. It is working to make things easier for EA/DICE, not better for the players.

NOTE 3: And let's not forget that it seems having cross-play on is a large contributor to the gunplay problems experienced: If you turn off cross-play the incidents of "wtf" moments almost disappear.

Any comment from EA/DICE? Nope. Nothing. My suspicion is they know how terrible it is and don't want to go on record until they have something less embarrassing to say about it.
