Engineer anti-air launcher is COMPLETELY useless

I do remember these (were there two or not?) were pretty difficult to use effectively in BF4, but the one BF6 it is completely, utterly useless. I can't even hit helis! The thing mises 95% of the time, and apparently the countermeasures reload time is shorter than the reload of the launcher. Jets don't even bother with countermeasures, they simply outly the rockets.

I have been stuck with this stupid engineer achievement to destroy/assist in destroing 15 aircrafts for TWO WEEKS!

I wonder who designs the game mechanics and whether anyone at DICE/EA even plays the game. This is such a fail on the most basic class level it's painful to even think about.

It doesn't outfly... C-ram destroys them when jets fly in own base close to it and close ground cause of repairs. Players that can fly jet know that they have one flare. So i strafe and get out of field... Aircrafts, especially jets are pushed out of field and btw, stingers dont have vertical distance limit. And also take in count, there are tons of lockons. Like i said, try one day and then come back.

I know. The problem is there is no way to get into an AA tank. There is no way to spawn in a vehicle at the beginning of a match, and they are ALWAYS instantly occupied the moment countdown starts. I don't understand how do people do it :(

Btw incase you didnt know if your the engineer and you can use anything to take down helis and planes like you can sit in the AA tank and it counts thats how i got it done super quick

**bleep** you can't quote messages here, damnit. AAaaagh!

I was suggested the tow launcher in past and I think I will try, it sounds like the only universal viable option (being a crap player I prefer the LAW, because it's fast and doesn't leave you exposed, but it's only useable against land vehicles).

RPG takes some special skills to use in this way so that's out of the question for me, but I admire anyone who is able to.

My main problem with the AA launcher is that even if I wait for a pilot to shoot the flares (which I've been doing/trying - basically I am aware of the concept - since the beginning), somehow they will still easily escape the rocket. I am talking about helis here, jets aren't even worth mentioning - they simply fly faster (wtf). It's extremely easy to break line of sight, and unless you're shooting at someone flying within 200m or so, you're basically screwed, unless it's someone who doesn't know how to fly at all.

jets i can understand. But heli's can reload flares even faster then the aa has lock on..especially on these small maps with hills and buildings to hide.

That's so bizarre reaction I don't know to respond. Yes, the players who actually can fly aren't bothered by the launchers at all, because they pose no threat whatsoever (unlike other jets, obviously).
Ask anyone who plays infantry and you will most likely get the same information.

You also completely ignored the part of my post where I wrote jets will simply outfly the rockets every single time, which is the rare moments where a rocket doesn't flat out miss because a tree got within 100m range of the trajectory.

    Whaa....

I use RPG against helis, but regular AA launcher is rly good, to down jets and helis.

Lock on wait for flares(Bad pilots flare on Lock on) wait for aircraft makes some distance from flares shoot and Boom!

If heli/Plane don't flare on lock on shoot 1 rocket, he will have to flare reload, repeat previous steps.

If you see pilot after flaring lower altitude and starts to fly really low, search for TOW, cus if the pilot wont make mistakes, you wont down it with lock on.

Also you can use M136 AT, Laser guided launcher, basically TOW on shoulder. Rocket will follow your crosshair.

TOW launchers on tanks/IFV's, stationary encampments, are OP, Jets Helis don't have counters against these, after a bit of practice its easy to down a heli.

  • Oh you so smart? Take a jet gameplay for 1 day and come back here.

Tip: Look for vehicles that used flares, no flares don't reload faster than you... Also find mate, triangle target.
