Feedback for Recon and bug report
First off, sorry for the long post!
Second, I'd like to say that BF6 is truly a step in the right direction and has brought me back to the franchise, the team has done a fantastic job so far and I really hope that continues!
That being said I do have some feedback for the Recon class, as I feel a few things could use some refinement. Here's my feedback and suggestions:
* The rangefinder for snipers feels very overpowered and removes much of the skill and satisfaction of learning bullet drop. One of the most rewarding parts of sniping was mastering each weapons drop characteristics, but with the current rangefinder, that challenge disappears.
It also creates a balance issue , since anyone not using it will be at a huge disadvantage compared to those who do. it essentially becomes a must use attachment rather that an optional tool.
Suggestion: remove the rangefinder or make it the rangefinder in BF4, which was just a distance readout.
* My biggest pain point at the moment is the scope progression. for example the PSR requires 150, 200m headshot kills to unlock but most maps don't really allow for that range consistently. starting with a 6x is fine but it shouldn't be that much longer to unlock something bigger to make longer ranges more achievable.
Suggestion: Bring back 20x and 40x scopes as well as make some bigger scopes accessible earlier on like the variable in BF4 that gave a 14x. or make some challenge related unlocks for bigger scopes.
* This could just be me, but I've barely seen any spawn beacons in my matches, maybe 2 total. A big part of being Recon establishing vantage points to spot, paint targets and take out high value enemies. Without the beacon, you spend more time running back to your spot rather than actually playing that role (this is made worse with the rangefinder as every sniper can headshot you super easy from range).
Suggestion: bring back the spawn beacon for Recon it doesn't necessarily need to be removed from assault... maybe recon could have a personal version that only they could use (not squad wide).
* The drone is great, but the limited battery feels unnecessarily restrictive especially on large maps like Mirak valley and Firestorm.
Suggestion: Consider making it indefinite but more visible (perhaps larger or easier to spot), or give it limited gadget destruction charges to prevent abuse. or potentially just make the gadget rechargeable like others.
Bugs I've noticed so far:
* The mountains on Operation Firestorm have buggy terrain that prevents sniper scope steadying and bipod placement.
* Recon PLD (laser designator) has issue when designating targets, it often exits zoom and tries to place the gadget instead, seems like a conflict of key binds.
* Not happened very often but I have had a bug where I've hit a target and blood comes out but the target doesn't take damage. I vaguely remember having this in previous battlefields as well.
