Feedback: Helicopter Balance, Private Servers, and Night Maps
Hey team,
Firstly, thanks for all the hard work that’s gone into Battlefield 6. The overall scope, visuals, and chaos of the game really capture what makes Battlefield special. Besides the "content not installed" issues I experienced, it's been an otherwise excellent launch.
That said, after spending a fair amount of time in-game, I wanted to share a few bits of constructive feedback on three key areas: helicopters, private servers, and night maps.
🚁 Helicopter Handling & Survivability
At the moment, helicopters feel a bit too fragile. More like flying bricks that can’t take much punishment. I’m not suggesting they should become overpowered or tanky, but they could use a slight survivability and handling adjustment to make flying more enjoyable and rewarding.
- Missile Resistance: Allow helis to survive at least one missile hit, currently it’s often game over after the first strike, even with smart flying and countermeasures. Of course, this is after light small arms damage, which leads me too,
- Small Arms Damage: Reduce small arms damage slightly. Right now, a few rifles can shred a heli, which feels unbalanced. I like that they can, but it feels like they can sink the heli just a bit too quick.
- Flight Model: Tighten up the controls, the current model feels heavy and floaty, like flying a brick on a string.
- Overall Balance: Just a gentle buff to health and handling enough to give pilots a fighting chance, not dominance.
🖥️ Private Server Rentals / Portal Access
When trying to create a Portal server, players often hit the message: “Global game quota exceeded.”
This really limits community-driven play. Many of us would happily pay for private server rentals, just like in past Battlefield titles. A proper RSP (Rent-a-Server Program) would:
- Ensure reliable uptime and access
- Support community-driven game modes and events
- Help fund infrastructure while keeping the community active
Bringing back paid server rentals would give players the control and reliability that’s currently missing, while strengthening long-term player engagement. If this isn't possible, at least show us how many server slots are available.
My other feedback item is allowing us to select the region in which our portal server is being hosted. I've started servers and landed with 200~ ping, it's not ideal. An easy fix would be to allow us to select a region whilst showing us availability for a portal server in that region.
🌙 Night Maps & NVG Integration
One last suggestion. Please consider introducing night-time versions of existing maps, or even new dedicated night maps. These could drastically change gameplay dynamics and atmosphere.
To complement that, add a Night Vision Goggle (NVG) toggle available to all classes by default, but only on night maps. It’d make low-light combat more tactical, immersive, and visually striking without upsetting class balance.
I believe night maps would bring some real "only in battlefield" moments.
Happy to hear thoughts from the community on these ones.
