Game Mode Idea: Payload
Separate the large maps into three lanes with a point in the relative center of each, out of bounds for 2/3rds of the lanes at a time for something like a 12v12. (Or, a larger game mode with 32v32 and all three lanes are running simultaneously).
The payload is an uncontrollable crawling (so that it doesn't activate mines) vehicle that steadily makes its way to the point, spurred on by proximity like most payload game modes would be. There are several sets of heavy armor to guard the vehicle(s). When it takes damage, it slows even further, and engineers healing it cause it to speed up. They aren't indestructible payloads, but they have a SIGNIFICANT amount of health, target jamming, etc. (if support aren't constantly smoking the payload to protect it, i would be surprised).
Like breakthrough, there could be steadily rolling zones as the attackers progress, preventing them from rushing the end objective and spawn camping defenders. Defenders would have a lot of static emplacements and infinite tickets, but no heavy vehicles or aircraft. Attackers have heavy vehicles, and MAYBE transport helicopters. Maybe, in the final phase.
Like sabotage, the most rounds won, the fastest, gets the match.
I've been trying to put it together in Godot but i'm not very good at scripting. I know the mode would be a hit though.
What are your thoughts? How would you implement or improve this as a mode?
