Gameplay inconsistency, Why is that?

I've been playing Battlefield since Battlefield Vietnam and so on and always have been a big Fan of the Franchise. Only with BF3 i started playing mainly on the console. I loved BF6 after launch and had nothing but positive experience in all aspects
Feedback on the internet completely shocked me, since players described having issues with "hit reg, desynch, netcode" and all sorts of terms I had never heard of before. In the beginning I thought it was just players whining about not being good at the game.
I also became a huge fan of Gauntlet, which I now mainly play when I'm playing in a party.

Ever since season 3, however I consistently  experience major problems with TTK, hitting people over long distances and them not dying, while I myself am constantly being destroyed in almost every round of regular (Conquest, Escalation etc.) BF6 games (Talking frequent KDs of 0.5).

As a reference:
- My KD in Season 1 and 2 was at 1.85 - 1.70 it now dropped to 1.50 (while my Gauntlet KD accounting for it still being over 1. , I IMO)
- My KD in Gauntlet remains at 1.79. (Cross-Play enabled)
- I have a high speed internet connection

I know that my skillset has only gotten better over time so I should much rather be witnessing an increase in KD Ratio. I also know that a certain drop in KD must be accounted by a lot of casuals leaving the game. A small part could also be people effectively hiding that they are cheating (I just found out about those hardware cheaters prevalent on console, this year). But this recent and steady decline to me is just unexplainable. Since the player base dropped I enabled Cross-Play but the problems remain mainly in regular BF6 game mods rather than in Gauntlet.

The point I am trying to make is, I feel that the constant need for improvement of gameplay on the side of the developers has lead to a vastly inconsistent gaming experience.
How is this even possible?
With older releases I have never experienced this and it is just frustrating to me.
Battlefield has literally been the only game I played for years and currently to me BF6 is unplayable.

I really hope they fix whatever causes this vastly inconsistent gameplay experiences.
It really saddens me, because I had great fun playing this in the beginning.

What's your thoughts on this? Has anyone else also had next to no issues with this game in the beginning and is now also unhappy with it?
What exactly causes this and is there any way for me as a player to battle this? (Like changing or optimizing settings)?

  • Well interesting to see I am not on my own with this. Yesterday I gave it one last try and mind you: I have NEVER had these problems in season 1. In Season 2 I had a time playing without cross-play thinking there's cheaters everywhere but retrospectively it could have been the same problem manifesting.
So after my last 20 rounds yesterday I made about 6 short clips and analysed them thoroughly. One incident with being shot around the corner and most of the others were just insane TTK discrepancies á la I shoot first from a cover, person starts shooting, I'm insta-dead without even being shot in the head.

I am now hanging it up, because it really messes with me mentally. I used to have the greatest fun playing with my gf in the evenings. It ended up just making me unnecessarily angry. Now we need to find a new game that we can play together.

  • I HAVE noticed a lot more uneven TTK: I mean, the netcode has always been garbage for me, with 'magic bullets' and bullets-around-corners happen with regularity. This season it's particularly egregious, though: A lot more instances where I can unload half a clip into someone but then I get the magic bullet treatment and die in what seems like a single shot. It's a lot more inconsistent, for a piece of **bleep** engineering that already was highly inconsistent in of itself.

I've also noticed distinct inconsistencies in other systems such as noise (Like enemy footsteps will sometimes just be completely silent, other times being like an elephant stampede), spawns (I dunno if they've jigged it since Season 3 but I have been spawning on points so often in the line of enemy fire or in their line of sight that it's a **bleep** joke) and matchmaking (A lot more stomps this season, I find, rather than matches going to the wire. Again, sign of a garbage company.)

  • because they completely ruined the hit reg and backend with this patch.

consoles have even more desync advantages now than ever before, and seemingly, some pc players too.

this game isn't far off from becoming a turn based first person shooter where whomever sees you first and fires off the first two or three shots wins, and this is even worse when playing against rollers.

i have had rollers with more or less same latency as me within a 1-3ms variance, i actually see them first and they are still either running or not looking at me yet they just suddenly either stop dead in their tracks, fire two-three shots and i die immediately despite firing off 4-6 shots sooner than them, or they snap around and just instagib me.

compare this to deltaforce with a functioning hit reg that takes into account skill gaps and doesn't pad players to over inflate their "Skill level"

I've had people fire easily 6-9 shots before me, hit me 2-3 times before me yet because there's a skill gap in my favor i kill them because i can aim better.

  • As I said, I’m trying to make sense of it. I got 100s of hours in this game now and it seemed to have completely changed, right after they came up with season 3. Within gauntlet, my stats appear to be more or less the same. Even though every now and then I experience similar patches of game after game being disadvantaged. It’s just inexplicable to me by merely pointing out “everyone got better”.

I4m not arguing with your general point, god knows I have posted on how uneven and frustrating the experience can be at times, but just wanted to point that referring to your own KD can be misleading: others are experiencing the same issues, and perhaps more to the point, others have learned to play better as well.
