I know the feeling. If the game didn't have breakthrough I'd probably quit playing. The period where breakthrough got thrown in with obliteration I barely played at all. Obliteration would go well with large scale modes like escalation or conquest, but to my knowledge they have never thrown all three of those in the same quickplay queue. Honestly I am a rush player, since it's what I grew up playing starting in Bad Company 2, but BF6 rush was BAD bad and was too limited. I remember the days of 64 player rush. Good times.
I can understand EAs reasoning here, I just don't think it's correct. Gauntlet was quite unique within the available game modes for BF6. There are certainly some people who will move into rapid redsuck, but at the end of the day I think they will see a net loss of players.
With less than 10% of launch players remaining on PC, and F2P (Game pass and free redsuck players) making up a large portion of the remaining player base, and there being pretty consistent complaints about the matchmaking being a problem... they certainly had to try something to fix the problem. Sadly, they still refuse to admit or consider allowing players to disable crossplay.
I'd wager we will see a return of PC players when they finally release player controlled servers. In that, you'll have owners who enforce PC, or at least MnK input only, which will likely get a lot of support from players. We'll also see console only servers.
I'm here pretty consistently, so I see many PC and Console players who complain about crossplay. Neither side thinks it's fair. Sure, it's only a vocal portion of the playerbase, but the remainder likely doesn't care if a lobby is only PC or only console. A change to allow crossplay to be turned off should be considered.
