What facts would those be? Tell us all, what intimate knowledge do you have about how these matches are created from EA's networking perspective? Be specific because your ragtag network job you have won't compare to the worldwide infrastructure AWS is using. You pretend to know, but you don't.
Just because you say you work in IT and know the text book diagram of the OSI model doesn't make you an expert on EA's AWS elastic servers an their infrastructure. I, too, work for a global company on their Security Operations Center and have for quite some time. Even working on Data Loss Prevention teams to bring in new vendors and standing up security stacks. Packet analysis is very common and not unusual but lets not flex epeens cuz it really doesn't matter. I won't argue on it because like you, I don't know EA's and AWS's network infrastructure and the NNEs that connect to the Microsoft and Sony DMZs via encrypted connection. There are too many unknows to say that there ISNT a problem with the "handshake" between EA hosted AWS servers, Microsoft's and Sony's protected networks. It's not like some giant LAN game.
With the speed of the game and the fast TTK, that info needs to be delivered in a fraction of a second to ALL clients on that game (or server). DICE continues to give us glimpses into fixing the netcode every so often. Even providing an update that they must use "time nudge" to get it as close to real time as possible. This is a subtle confirmation that there is a problem. Forgive the rest of us when DICE confirms there is a problem and is in active break/fix or development and we don't trust the exchange of packet information between all platforms and connected clients. That information quite literally has to travel physical distance. EA's servers are getting it wrong and the players here feel it. So the players offer feedback to try to remedy the symptom by asking for the option to disable crossplay, even temporarily. Who are you to say they shouldn't get what they want?
The fact is you don't know anything about the ecosystem of the trifecta of EA + SONY + MICROSOFT works to connect all of the players together on AWS, in a shared space. You just assume you do and you present some BS bravado to stroke your own ego. You trust your facts and won't listen to other people's feedback on an open forum. Instead, you troll on.
Who knows, EA, MS, Sony, and Amazon may be working very hard on trying to figure out a problem they are seeing in their logs, dashboards, and reports. They just aren't being transparent and that's why people come here.

Posted, sure. Contributed? Doubtful. I could waste my time looking at Member: Raansu86 | EA Forums for post history but it really isn't worth it. I've got far better things to do.
Raansu86 wrote:Because there's no actual legitimate reason for it.
The players are not enough of a good enough reason? I'll make it easy for you. Search | EA Forums Now remember, this is just here, on EA forums. Pop open Reddit, Steam, and YouTube and you can see that there is overwhelming desire for (I just can't figure out why you hate the concept of people having) the OPTION to toggle crossplay on or off for PC. EA said Okay to consoles. 🤷♂️
Console players are also asking for this. If all three camps are saying they want it, EA needs to act in one way or another.
Raansu86 wrote:Pointing out realities like player drop off having nothing to do with crossplay isn't derailing a post. It's just something that happens to pretty much every game.
It's a talking point to add to the ever growing call for the option for players to separate the lobbies if they choose too, not the reason to convince someone. The more the player base shrinks the more concentrated this becomes.
If all you want to do is argue, just keep it to yourself and move on.
You answered your own question. MS and PS are just authentication handshakes, no different from steam. Client > server communication is the same for PC and console once its beyond the authentication handshake where steam/psn/xbl have no involvement anymore which means crossplay clearly has nothing to do with desync because desync is simply a packet loss where the server side has to use lag compensation to guess what the lost packet did similar to how rollback works in fighting games. The obvious difference is console players are more likely to be on wifi, which *gasp* means more jitter and more packet drops. I run across desync against PC users too and I guarantee its some dude on a laptop using wifi.
Desync is something every FPS game has to deal with. Back in the day it was rubber banding (and BF3 had horrible rubber banding issues, especially in metro). Today they just cut frames and calculate everything instantly to keep things running smoother. Would you rather go back to the rubber banding days or desync for lag compensation? Blaming it on crossplay is just ignorant.

It's not just wifi, it's also that consoles have slow CPU's and network stacks compared to PC's. I mean a console has a CPU comparable to a PC from 15 years ago, so any processing stumbles through the whole system manifests itself across the whole play session.
Cross-play is an idiotic idea for a first person shooter, especially when it's FORCED on PC players.

What are you on about? lmao.
Both the PS5 and Xbox rock 1gig NICs and both of them have custom SoC's based on Zen2 CPU's. No, they're not flagship CPU's, but they are not 15 year old chips. They're modern chips lol.

8 days... I was gone for 8 days doing far better things than lurking these forums. Maybe you should take a break as well. Judging by the spike in activity from you, this discussion really hits a nerve for you and you're lashing out at the community. I'd watch how you treat others on the forums. Never know when people start reporting you for toxicity and get noticed by CMs. Again, why do you hate the option for PC players to disable cross play? Which question and what part of my question did I ask and then subsequently answer? Are you attempting to surmise that 'networking is hard' so you just shrug and say "that's the proof?" No where did I BLAME cross play as so many people here have complained of unpredictable game play where cross play was suspected. Even console players are saying they feel the same against PC players and are calling for PC players to be removed from lobbies or matchmaking.
Just spend any time, please, ANY TIME asking Google AI, Gemini and follow the questions it prompts you for. You will get endless references to Reddit, EA Forums, and YouTube where the DICE and EA player support is. Hmm, imagine that. It's almost like the DEV and CMs are actively listening.
The fact is the Battlefield franchise first introduced cross play with the release of Battlefield 2042. Prior entries in the series, such as Battlefield V and Battlefield 1, kept players completely isolated on their respective console or PC networks. So we are in the second generation of cross play with Battlefield and there are glaring problems. At no point did I claim they couldn't be fixed and honestly, I hope they do fix it.
No where in your incoherent response did you actually read what I posted about cross platform (not cross play) and elastic, temporary servers. I wouldn't be surprised if you hit Reply before you even finished reading. If that is the case, your narcissism is starting to show. Every FPS game has all of those networking challenges and, at times, can be felt more or less depending on many factors that impact data flow and exchange. But, since you had a hard time in Bf3, you must have been playing it on wireless since I didn't have a problem with rubber-banding. It was the super-bullets and dying around corners that I saw the most of. Those are well known issues with the multiplayer server tick rate of 30hz.
I guess I was spot-on with your rudimentary knowledge of networks as you have claimed to have if this was all you can muster. If your best reply is desync is desync, please just move on and stop trying to derail and lock this thread. People want to see change are using this thread for what it's intended for, feedback and discussion. You seem to reject any notion that you may be either completely wrong or just marginally wrong and attempt to invalidate any dispute. I have a 17 year old child that
argues"discusses" better than you.If DICE is looking to change weapon balance and gunplay for the sake of fixing that core mechanic of the game, segmenting lobbies won't be as hard. I am inclined to believe that its more about leasing out access to Sony and MS for dollars tied to their sales. That makes sense when you recall that PC players were being punished for finding the .ini file setting and disabling cross play for PCs.

you win the internet. raanus86 has been coming into multiple threads on this clearly to derail the thread with childish commentary.

Point, set, match. No need to carry on with discussion with this shill.
