Grenades and RPGs

Can someone explain to me why when you throw a grenade or fire an RPG at a player they don't explode. If you throw a grenade or fire a RPG , it in the air and a player shoots tou while it is in the air and you die, they don't explode? Why is that? That doesn't happen in any other FPS.
