I found a harcore mode but overall the game feel different, personally I think the slide is too long and the overall speed is to fast. It feels more like 2042 and the classes is the same issue. Closed weapons are more of a hybrid system, this is rather frustrating. Has anyone tried it?
I tried one of the hardcore portal servers made by the dev team, and it was ok but there were a lot of things I didn't like. I made a server (code 4zm6) where I tried to go back to what the old hardcore feeling was and it plays a lot better I feel like, it filled up with players pretty quickly and enjoyable. The biggest issue is that the settings in portal for the server are some what limiting. For example, if you get rid of cross hairs, so there are none unless you ADS, it gets rid of all cross hairs including in jets, choppers, and other vehicles making using them almost a guessing game. Hardcore shouldn't get rid of your cross hairs in you sights. So I was not able to make it like it was exactly in BF4, but it feels close. And if you use that code you can host your own server and see how it feels.
This brings me to my next point, and the biggest problem with portal vs official servers. There are far too many people creating XP farms, so hosting a server is a nightmare of constantly trying to press the host button for 20 mins until you are finally able to host one. Then, like other's have mention, you are not getting a consistent experience because everyone's version of hardcore is different, and with no way to favorite servers for later, you end up losing the server you like. I also had to turn on bot back fill, because if you end up leaving your server with no other players in it, the server gets spins down (not removed because persistent is on) so you do another cycle of 20 mins of clicking host to spin it up again because no one and join if it spins down. So I turn bots on and just play with bots until other people get in. But if the server goes empty again, it will spin down. This is far too much just to play a hardcore experience, and will eventually get so tiring that I will just move on from the game. Which, just having a few, easily accessible, hardcore official servers could easily remedy.
