Is it me getting older or is it too fast

Battlefield 6 feels way too fast-paced for me, and it leaves me feeling extremely stressed when I play. I try to be tactical, but it seems impossible. I set up a solid bunker, mount my machine gun, and wait for the enemy waves, but less than a second after an enemy appears, I'm instantly dead. On the rare occasions I get to shoot at them, I only manage a few shots before being killed. It also feels like machine guns deal much less damage compared to assault rifles and carbines, which everyone seems to be using now. The game really needs to slow down a lot. For example, people running around and snapshotting instantly shouldn't work. One solution could be to greatly reduce accuracy while moving and for a moment after stopping. This would encourage more tactical play, and not everone running around like their pants are on fire.

  • I don't like the map designs. Most of the maps has things skewed towards the left with giant open right sides on attack  (For Breakthrough). Every map I've played I can just essentially run far right and flank the enemy which can be funny but ultimately boring. The damange is a lottery, I can repeat the same shot on the spot and get different results every time. The characters always feel heavy to me to the point I can't tell if I'm running or not and I feel I'm under constant suppression. Makes me want to pick up 3 or 4 because the fast pace felt fun and fair. Even the maps that feel "unfair" there is or was a strategy to win if people bothered using it. People just enjoy the meat grind.

I'm still going to wait for the first update...but no clue why all the main maps are so boring when redsec and whatever other modes are getting these dynamic and large maps.

  • I don't fly. I haven't figured it out since early in the BF franchise. If there was a training ground where you could try different aircraft and fly through targets and agianst bots I would try to learn. But EA makes progress of several challenges dependent on earning points flying. So that effectively favors players who do fly and not everybody does. I'm not the only one. I view those challenges as unobtainable for me and an unreasonable barrier to obtaining the rewards of the game I purchased.

Sorry to necro but has anyone ever mentioned that the former cod developer/s is now the (main?)dev for BF6?

Totally a placebo patch! I don't even think the patch included any spread changes.

It did include spread changes, but they didn't include the spread fixes for several issues. I get that it's a bit confusing though, because Battlefield Studios really didn't communicate it very well.

Regardless, SMGs are not OP and never have been OP.

Some of the SMGs have a sub-200 ms TTK, especially if you include headshots. I think any weapon that shoots that fast is going to be pretty rough to play against, because on the receiving end it'll just feel like you were instantly killed.

Believe it is a Latency issue. You see the enemy for a split second, but they've seen you long enough to hit you with 4-6 rounds.

That's why TTK and TTD seem so random, even though most of the weapons are tuned to kill in 4-6 rounds (which is not bad, and about where previous battlefields were). You can verify the number of rounds to kill a player in the shooting range.

This also can explain why players often oscillate between matches where they cannot win a fire fight vs matches where they can't seem to lose a fire fight. Because it is really the net code causing the variance.

At least that is how it seems for me.

  • Been playing FPS games on and off since early days of CS and a few of the older BF games like BF1942. You're not wrong for feeling that the gameplay is too fast-paced. One of the reasons why I stopped playing BF6 to play Arc Raiders is that it's incredibly more immersive, realistic, and methodical. The gameplay in BF6 is very far from an immersive, realistic war experience. In real war, humans can't sprint 200 yards non-stop with 100+ pounds of gear on while vaulting difficult terrain effortlessly like a comic book super hero.  The game incentivizes you to play recklessly and chaotic, well, at least for most of the game modes.

It's obvious the folks at EA wanted to make sure they could compete the their CoD rivals, and has further since moved the gameplay in that direction. Complete zoomer brain-rot, chaotic garbage with flamboyant skins that push the game farther away from "immersion."

Look, I'm not asking for a complex military sim that feels clunky, but this game is nothing like actual modern warfare.
