Matchmaking growing more imbalanced
I just wanted to flag a concern in the vain hope it gets addressed, before is has a wider impacted. This is mostly a conquest game mode comment but issues will have crossover.
Matchmaking seems to have grown increasingly imbalanced over the last month. Too many games and up at 800-0 mark or more. To me this strikes me as an incredibly inconsistent or non-existent matchmaking system. Given that we can't have custom servers is especially concerning.
Whilst matchmaking itself is the route cause of this, there are certain characteristics, either by accident or design, that are exacerbating the imbalance. In no particular order these are:
Overall Map Design: A team can get pinned way too easily because of the constrained maps. Previous battlefields, even on a wipeout, would allow an individual or a squad, with moderate planning/luck to get into a position to take a rear or side objective. These diversions are rarely possible on BF6
TTK is too short: (without even going in to the netcode issues): If a player or individual tries to make a detour around they can be cut down far too quickly, further diminishing chances to open up the gameplay.
On a related note, and as a standalone issue there is rarely time for a more complex engagement to take place between 2 players to take place. Whilst a better aim and a better reaction should always have the major influence on the outcome of a firefight, the way things currently work is too one dimensional. Previous editions of BF handled this pretty well, where you might be able to escape 50% of your encounters should you find yourself disadvantaged and then reposition/re-engage on a more even footing for a more enjoyable and layered encounter on both sides.. Currently unless you realise very very quickly that you're overwhelmed, its over.
TTK should be increased for all engagements except high-powered sniper headshots, these should still 1 shot, though may lets ditch the rangefinder/trigger exploit. And I guess shotguns at close range being instant makes sense too (as much as I dislike shotguns).
Individual Map Issues: Whilst this could be a long list which many would have legitimate contributions too I would just make the general point that many of the maps have design/gameplay issues that can further unbalance a game. One quick example would be the unnecessary helicopters on Manhattan Bridge that with a pilot with skill but no integrity can quite easily farm the spawn areas.
I feel like there's more (netcode) but these are the issues screaming out at present.
Oh, and trash the current comeback mechanics, that thing is nonsense. Constant ticket loss ratiod on control points works just fine, Or it would do if we could have some balance.
