The mortar needs a buff ASAP. The size of the maps, combined with the fire rate, combined with the virtually non-existent damage (hopefully everyone is ok with just suppressing people for 5 points), makes it a gadget on par with a paperweight in terms of usefulness.
No I agree, explosive dmg/AoE need to be brought back. 2042 sucked cause choke point were too close to one another do to small maps. They are prioritizing infantry fight over everything else. Basically they are turning this game into COD but not changing the title
So far the only use I found for the mortar is that the user is the perfect target for a sniper headshot if I get behind their lines.
