Mortars

They actually work now. They're not perfect, but hits land generally where you point the thing and it actually inflicted damage when I used it the other day.

Its annoyingly easily taken out and time to land shots takes a bit, so you have to predict shots well in advance, but I suppose this is a reasonable balance.

This was completely useless from the drop and you were sticking out like a sore thumb. But now, it actually works in areasonbly bakanced way where you're having, ya know... FUN (the important part).

Good job!

UPDATE: they feel like **bleep** again. Lol. Secret nerf? Probably. Unusable. Just remove them and never bring them back. Please. I'd rather that than rooster teasing. ๐Ÿ”๐Ÿ‘‰๐Ÿ’ฃ๐Ÿšซ

  • Deploying Mortars in Spawn and thus the only Countermeasure for it being other Mortars is still a huge Design Flaw. They are so annoying sometimes.

Just get one out yourself and fire one back, they nerfed it so you cant use that blocking thing and they take like 1 hit now to destroy them lol.

So you need an available support, equipped with a mortar themselves, who then sees the position of the other mortar in spawn, and takes care of it...

It may not be difficult, but it requires one of a usually very small number of your teammates to do the thing. And until it happens, nobody else can do anything. This is not like a vehicle, where a bunch of your teammates will have the right tools, it's just not great design.

  • The best solution for mortars would be to remove them from Breakthrough and rush.  90% of the balancing problems come from these gamemodes with that gadget.  If they ever work for breakthrough/rush, they are trash in conquest/escalation, and if they are good in conquest escalation, they are completely broken and ruin the game in breakthrough/rush.

Breakthrough mortars just make me want to quit the game because countering them is so boring.  Oh boy, I get to pick a mortar now, of boy I get to shoot twice, oh boy I have to pick up the mortar and reposition, oh boy I'm doing it all over again, oh boy I'm having so much fun.

When Devs listen too heavily to "nerf culture" and just start removing mechanics, games lose what made them fun in the first place. Over-balancing a game to ensure nobody ever gets frustrated usually just leads to a very bland, generic experience where nothing feels powerful, which is exactly what we currently have with pretty much all explosives, Classes all have class  based nerfs, gun nerfs for unrealistic spread and snipers (outside of the stupid sweet spot mechanic).

If players refuse to switch off their favourite class for two minutes to deal with something that's annoying them, like a mortar, that's on them, not a design flaw. Don't just sit there waiting and relying on a teammate to fix the problem for you step up and try do it yourself.

Painknightโ€‹ Breakthrough is actually the best case to use Mortar since it opens the way. I think that's how they do it IRL.

I dont 90% ofthe issues come form thst gadget. Lol. The gadget was **bleep** from the start. Your comment has no basis.

The only way to counter is using mortar or flank. But sounds like you're not having fun with game, tbh.

This is because the maps are tiny. To make them usable, they have to allow it.
