New attachments indicator is confusing

The orange dot that is supposed to guide you to your newly earned attachments is actually very misleading. A lot of times I click on a weapon and choose to customize it to check the new attachment, just to see the orange dot gone. I then need to manually search every possible attachment class to find the one with the "NEW" orange label. The indicator should appear consistently, guiding you exactly to the attachment category where there is a new entry for the current weapon/class.
