Too many hysterical reactions about this issue. Here's the point:
"At the same time, we recognize that some players prefer the Closed Weapons experience. To support them, official Closed Weapons playlists will be available at launch."
So, the choice is made available.
The last few weeks, I have been pounding away at Battlefield 2042 (for the BF6 unlocks and working on muscle memory) and playing mostly support class. The conclusion I have come to is that I would not like to have weapon choice forced on me. I want a choice and they are offering a choice.
After hundreds of hours of testing while playing Support class (recently in BF2042 gameplay), I used SMG and found it very good, but what I noticed when using an Assault weapon, specifically the M5A3, I liked it more.
It felt more stable, more powerful per shot, had less recoil, could use a suppressor (I like Wrapped), had better mid-range targeting, had excellent accessory options and had a magazine nearly as large (40 vs 50) as the top SMG magazine. (Although the SMG was a very close second in effectiveness.)
So, I am fine with the BF6 decision to offer both.
