Patrol Boats barely feel present; spawn mechanics also not functional

The Patrol boats die in 3 rockets and get shredded by any miniguns. Given how large and awkward they are, this makes them extremely squishy. They will be eviscerated by the scout heli, transport heli, a single infantry with the AT4, hell I did half of one's hp with the RHIB. There are only 2 for each team but their presence on the map is barely felt.

They also can't be used as a team-play tool for the reasons below, which I'm including from another comment:

The Patrol Boats lack of transport capacity really hurts the map. Supposedly there is some sort of spawn-beacon mechanic with it? But it is completely obtuse or doesn't function at all, as I have been unable to spawn on a full Patrol Boat a single time despite trying dozens of times today regardless of whether the boat was near the shore, open ocean, whatever. Even if there is a mechanic like that, I'm not sure how they think we're supposed to know about it or how to use it, and I'm not sure why they think the average BF player will have the intelligence to bring the boat to where it can drop infantry.

The jetskis spawning from the boat in BF4 was buggy, but when it worked it allowed you to use the boat as a spawn beacon even when the pilot was positioned poorly.

Additionally, the "mortar mode" of the attack boat seems awkward as well, specifically when you are in the "mortar mode" (turrets facing up) you can cycle through 3/4 different angles, but only 1 or 2 of them seem to make a meaningful difference in where you can aim, and having to constantly cycle through them as the boat may be moving is awkward and makes for an ineffective experience. Also very little visual/audio feedback on the cycling mechanic, so it's hard to tell if it's even working (maybe it's not?) Finally, because the projectiles fired are slow and indirect, it amplifies the squishiness of the boat to make it very hard to fight back against any infantry as they can pump rockets out much faster than you can accurate shots, you just have to hope your driver handles it all, which would be less of an issue if you had a bit more health to give you time for your shells to reach their target or line up the shots.

Also, being left behind at spawn is a huge issue on this map, and many maps honestly, amplified by the 2-seater nature of the attack boats. We need a way to redeploy to the spawn screen without losing a ticket/getting a death when the match starts, been an issue since launch.

I understand the hesitance to make them overtuned, but I'm not convinced "naval combat" is really integrated into the game at present, apart from Rhibs being used as occasional transport, but even then they only spawn in a couple spots on the map. Without miniguns for the gunners like BF4 I think even if it took 4 rockets to kill them and they were much hardier to the transport/scout munitions they wouldn't be overpowered.

I got left behind at spawn plenty of times i just wait they have capped a flag and respawn, i find there are definatley plenty of squads of engineers that just camp/hide take up tactical positions and attack boats are groups.

It is what it is camping at spawn and using the mortar does pmo.

  • The transport options on Tsuru are just abysmal.  Like you point out, not getting a ride at spawn usually means just sitting around doing nothing for a considerable while, then redeploying once your team manages to take an OBJ.

The "tank" boats with mortars... it's just a bad idea.  I'm unsure why there is so much hatred about using what already worked in proper battlefield titles.  The classic boats worked very well.  There is nothing wrong with bringing back what worked.  I don't even understand what the mortars are supposed to do.  By the time you can actually land a mortar on anything, the enemy has either left or already killed you.  Just get rid of that and slap on the cannon that the standard IFV uses, it will be 100000% better.

BC2 had more watercraft than are in BF6.  BC2 didn't even have a serious water map like Tsuru.  What were they thinking?
