I think the 25 DMG number you're seeing is actually 25 Points awarded for Damaging the tank. If you watch the tanks health bar it will go down by more than 1 / 40, if he hasn't got a Tank Monkey doing repairs. It's usually 2-4 RPG's depending where you hit. There are some good youtube videos out there outlining tank weak-points.
I think it's sad that using Voice-Comms is associated with 'no-lifing'. Sharing and receiving info with your squad makes a huge difference. My buddies and I are typically in a discord server, I don't think I've ever been in a squad where anyone used the in game chat for anything more than broadcasting some heavy breathing. In fairness, I've not tried to get that ball rolling either.
You can replenish all of your equipment and actually get more than you spawn in with using a deployed support bag. They have an Icon on the map. You can also use the Comm Wheel>Request Ammo Near a support player and they might drop you one (results may vary). You have to basically sit in the bag now, the effective radius is real small. If the support guy throws down another, the one you're on will disappear which can be annoying.

The UI and menu is terrible, I don't think they'll fix it though.
I think MMR in a game like this could be hard to implement and not have the desired result. If said try-hards are out hounding kills, they probably don't actually get a lot of point, or perform particularly well in terms of score. You could end up in a situation where all the people who play the objective end up in one tier, and new/casual players get matched with the sweats that play for K/D only, at least for game modes like conquest.
In BF4, where the servers were persistent, they'd balance the squads between matches. That way you'd stay with your squad but all the best squads wouldn't be on the same team. I liked that system, but the way matchmaking works now it's impossible. We all get chucked in the blender and sometimes you get a real bad run of luck. Can suck hard.
