Permanent EA Account Ban for Toxic Chat?

I am extremely disappointed and frustrated with EA's punishment system.

My entire EA account has been permanently banned because of three offensive chat messages in Battlefield 6.

Let me be clear: I admit my mistake. I lost my temper during a competitive match, used inappropriate language, and I understand that this behavior deserves consequences.

But a PERMANENT BAN across my ENTIRE EA account? Seriously?

I am now unable to play other EA online games that I paid for, even though the incident happened in Battlefield 6.

Since when does losing your temper in a video game deserve the same ultimate punishment as serious offenses like cheating?

Cheaters destroy the competitive experience for entire lobbies. They deliberately exploit the game, ruin matches, and undermine fair competition.

I would much rather see EA apply this level of zero-tolerance enforcement to proven cheaters instead of permanently excluding emotional players who made mistakes in chat.

I'm not saying toxic behavior should go unpunished. Give me a 30-day ban, a 90-day ban, disable my chat privileges, or restrict my access to Battlefield 6. I would accept that.

But permanently removing access to online features across an entire gaming account because of offensive words? That feels completely disproportionate.

There should be a difference between a player who makes a mistake in the heat of the moment and someone who deliberately and repeatedly destroys the gaming experience for others.

Punishment should encourage people to change their behavior, not permanently exclude them without any possibility of redemption.

I am asking EA to reconsider how permanent account-wide bans are applied and to introduce more reasonable, proportionate penalties for chat-related violations.

I take responsibility for my actions. All I ask is for EA to show some proportionality and common sense.

Does the community really believe that three offensive chat messages should cost someone access to their entire EA gaming account forever?

You're completely missing the point of my argument.

Admitting that I broke the rules does NOT mean I have to agree that every possible punishment is justified.

Yes, I used inappropriate language. Yes, I deserve consequences. I've acknowledged that repeatedly. But there is a massive difference between punishing someone for offensive chat and permanently disabling their ENTIRE EA account.

You say I'm "running out of chances." Based on what exactly?

The ban notification lists three chat messages. Three messages do not automatically mean three previous disciplinary actions or three separate opportunities to correct my behavior. If you have evidence of my previous warnings or suspensions, feel free to share it. Otherwise, you're making assumptions.

And to answer your question about what a human review could change: the severity and scope of the punishment.

A proper review could determine whether a temporary Battlefield 6 suspension, a permanent chat restriction, or another game-specific penalty would be more appropriate than a lifetime account-wide ban.

Why should something I said in Battlefield 6 permanently prevent me from accessing other Battlefield titles and unrelated EA games that I legitimately purchased?

Meanwhile, players continue reporting suspected cheaters who actively ruin matches. I strongly support permanent action against proven cheating. But treating offensive chat messages as grounds for permanently losing access to an entire gaming account raises serious questions about proportionality.

Following the rules matters. But proportional punishment matters too.

I'm not arguing that my behavior was acceptable. I'm arguing that the punishment is excessive.

If you can't distinguish between those two positions, then you're arguing against something I never actually said.

I actually agree with part of your argument. Racism, serious threats, and discriminatory harassment deserve severe consequences. And I fully support permanent bans for proven cheaters.

But let's look at what actually happened in my case.

The messages EA cited were "fu****ng base sitters," "stupid rats." Were they rude and inappropriate? Absolutely. Do I deserve punishment? Yes.

But are these three messages really serious enough to justify permanently banning my ENTIRE EA account, including completely unrelated games I've paid for?

That's where I strongly disagree with EA's approach.

A 30-day or even 90-day suspension from Battlefield 6? Fine. A permanent chat restriction? Also reasonable. But permanently taking away online access to my entire EA game library over a few angry chat messages is absurdly disproportionate.

And here's another thing: Battlefield 6 has a serious problem with players suspected of cheating. Deliberate cheating undermines fair competition and ruins matches for everyone. I would much rather see EA focus its harshest penalties on proven cheaters than treat frustrated players who used offensive language as if they had committed equally destructive offenses.

Punishment should be proportional to the violation, not simply as extreme as the system allows.

I don't want immunity from the rules. I want common sense in how those rules are enforced.

I also think that you shouldn't lose your entire EA account for that, but unfortunately, it makes no difference whether we approve of it or not. As you already mentioned, a temporary ban could be a better solution, giving someone the opportunity to express themselves more carefully in the future. It's a shame about all the money and time you invested. Ultimately, they're just words that don't physically hurt anyone, but can certainly annoy them.

You admit the messages were inappropriate, so what exactly do you expect a “human review” to change? You knew the rules, broke them repeatedly, and now you don’t like the consequences.

At some point, it’s not EA being unfair, it’s you running out of chances.

Three violations is three violations. You can keep arguing about the punishment, but that won’t undo what got you banned.

  • Without knowing the details of your specific case, I agree to a certain extend. There should be some degrees in punishment. Someone that loses his/her temper in (voice)chat should get a warning first or a temporary ban. However it all depends on the nature of offensive chat. Imo there should be 0 tolerance for offenses that involves:

    • Racism
    • Mysogyny
    • Homophobia
    • Xenophobia
    • Threatening

Any of those deserves an immediate lifetime account ban, and same for cheaters. Also if you got a warning or temporary ban before second offense should also be a lifetime account ban.

Thank you for your response, but this is exactly why I came to the forums in the first place.

The official appeal system feels like talking to a robot. All I get are generic, automated-looking responses with no meaningful explanation, no dialogue, and no indication that anyone has actually reviewed my situation individually.

How am I supposed to appeal a decision when I cannot even get a proper response from a real person?

I fully acknowledge that my three inappropriate chat messages in Battlefield 6 deserved punishment. But permanently banning my ENTIRE EA account, including access to other games I paid for, seems completely disproportionate.

I am not asking to escape punishment. I am asking for a fair, HUMAN review of its severity.

You direct me back to the appeal system, but that system is precisely the problem I am trying to raise!

That is why I posted here — because I genuinely hoped someone from EA would actually listen instead of sending another generic response.

If these appeals are truly reviewed by humans, why does the process offer no meaningful explanation or opportunity for dialogue?

Is there really no way to reach someone who can properly reconsider a permanent account-wide ban?

I would sincerely appreciate something more helpful than another link to the same appeal page.

Ban appeals are not handled via the forums. If you feel you have been incorrectly banned, you can dispute any action against your EA account by following the steps in the following link:

How do I appeal a ban

    Thank you. EA_Barry.
