Personal thoughts and ideas on additions and adjustments
I'm old as dirt and have played every title since BF1942. Even the often-forgotten BF Vietnam and BF Heroes. So, I have been around for a bit. Here are a list of noticeable issues and ideas I haven't personally seen mentioned.
Spawn Beacon layer adjustment on map: The spawn beacon is on a layer below the players icons making it difficult to spawn in on the beacon when a squad mate is under fire while on the beacon.
Hall Effect keyboard utilization: a tick box in the settings to allow us to control movement speed with WASD the same as a analog stick on a controller.
Same muzzle rise on mouse and controller: It's 2025. People on controller are already on par with mouse and keyboard with the help of auto aim. The difference is negligible but noticeable. controlling muzzle rise is just as easy on controller as with a mouse. Give controllers the same muzzle with as a mouse.
Moving Spawn Beacon to Assault: This won't fix anything without locking weapons to their classes. Snipers will just choose assault and snipe instead. Only now they will have a second main weapon, and a grenade launched too. Fair trade for the class ability loss to be honest. It should really stay with recon. Better to fix these unintended hard to reach places that snipers shouldn't go.
I would open beta back up without combat and let us all go run around and find all these trouble areas we aren't meant to access. If we could get all the areas on the four maps we know now, that is for we won't have to worry about later.
Increased aim reticle on airborne players and strafe spammers: Put a damper on these corner hoppers and people strafing left and right while aiming down sight. Strafe hopping should make the reticle extremely large. Strafe spamming should be an exponentially growing reticle that returns to normal once stationary. Strafing one direction isn't a big deal, the left right left right tactic looks corny and is obnoxious.
Slide into crotch and prone: Sprint and hold crotch to slide as normal. release crotch before slide ends to stand, release crotch at the end of the slide to stay crotched, continue to hold crotch to go prone at the end of the slide. Wouldn't take long for us to learn the timing. Maybe and audible or visual queue on when the slide ends could be helpful. A jingling of your equipment or repositioning of your weapon.
Compass on by default: yea, that.
The Settings Gauntlet: This is the most convoluted settings menu I have ever used. All the options are greatly appreciated but I think it can be presented and organized better. It feels like there are some unneeded layers that make finding what you're looking for difficult.
Access Settings in the firing range: Yea, that too.
Training Grounds: A small military base area to test weapons and practice with vehicles. Similar to BF4 and our little practice island.
Sniper Glint Adjustment: Make the glint smaller when attempting to counter snipe. The glint is almost like a defensive tool. You can't even see the sniper, just a large white blur. when scoped just have the scale of the glint decrease as your cross hairs near the sniper. This could be an option to toggle on or off. People who don't attempt to counter snipers wouldn't really need this.
C4 AOE radius against infantry: seems a little small against infantry. I have C4ed stairways and set it off when an enemy is coming up, yet they survive.
Scope Magnification increases bloom: Seems the bloom of full autos increase with scope magnification. I'm sure this is a known issue.
Vanishing Spawn Beacons: Sometimes they vanish on deployment.
Whitewashed when Scoping: When in a dark area and looking through the scope into a bright area, The screen gets washed of and difficult to see. Maybe it was just the one map. I do not remember it happening on the more infantry-based maps.
Binoculars for Recon: Would allow spotting and surveying without glint.
Weapon Free Peek Mechanic: Probably too late for this, but when given a peek to aim option near an edge. Maybe an alternative key would let us peek without head only to not draw as much attention.
Free look when sprinting: Just a key to free look when sprinting so we can maintain forward momentum while scanning our perimeter. Maybe a glance button option similar to flick.
Squad Based Player Match: Either players can pick their preferred playstyle and role, or it can be determined via play data over time. Let all the solo players be squadded up together and the team players squadded up.
Bring back commander mode: Commanders communicate with squad leaders to direct them on the battlefield. Let them have supply drops, mortar strikes, and UAVs on cooldown timers. maybe specific control points on each map could decrease your commander or increase the enemy commander's cooldown timers.
Bring back Battlerecorder: Let us make those epic action movies again. Can also be used to catch and report exploiters.
Music from vehicles: I saw it in the options to control music volume from vehicles. I wouldn't expect EA to spend money on a lot of licensed music but there is a ton of independent musicians that would likely allow the use of their music for free just for the exposure. The US military uses music as a form of psychological warfare. A M1 Abraham blasting some metal can add an extra layer of intimidation in a battle.
We had this in BF Vietnam, and it was great. Even had a doppler effect on the music so you could tell if the vehicle was coming or going. I didn't dream that did I?
New songs could be battlepass unlocks. Yes, there is a battlepass people. Go look at the items included with the premium purchase.
C4 Lob or Throw: Lobs would arc more and stick to vertical surfaces; throwing would be more of a straight toss that would end up on the ground. Tap to lob, hold to toss. Can you tell what class I usually play yet?
Laser visibility: Make lasers visible in smoke and dust. Make dots visible on walls. Will make the toggle laser mechanic more necessary.
Fire while being dragged: Maybe halfway through the event, you become aware enough to fire your weapon and defend your savior.
Grenade kick back: Kick a grenade away from your area.
Knifed Player as shield: During knifed animation, victim becomes a shield before they fall.
