PSN ID change screw up EA linked account?

I know it's not supposed to because it goes by email but does changing your PSN ID/Gamertag unlink anyone else's EA account and lock you out of games? According to Google it can happen. It's never happened to me on Xbox but on PSN when I changed my name, I was locked out of EA games. EA disabled my email tied to my EA account after the name change.
