Increase the points required to equip the rangefinder, making it a luxury item—if you want a rangefinder, you have to give up other attachments! In real life, rangefinders don’t auto-zero; they’re always manually zeroed. Battlefield 6’s rangefinder zeroing in just one second is way overpowered (it feels like a bug). Long-press manual zeroing can be kept!

That’s not actually true though.. is it... Auto-zeroing scopes do exist in real life. There are models like the iAiming iA-612 Smart Thermal Scope, which has a patented First Shot Auto Zero feature, and the ATN X-Sight series with One Shot Zero built in. Even the Burris Eliminator has a rangefinder and ballistic computer that instantly adjusts your aiming point when you press the button.
So the concept isn’t unrealistic they just turned existing tech into a gameplay mechanic. Battlefield’s version just makes it more seamless. If anything, they should focus on making snipers behave more realistically instead of nerfing features that are already possible in real life.
