Raving Rantings of a Vet

So competetive Battlefield was announced on the 20th of November, and it's already making me paranoid about the future of BF6

Not to be a doomer, but this doesn't feel like the leads or whoever makes the decisions for the game knows the game at all. Cause i don't think the devs are to blame.

The Battlefield games we used to love have passed into history, although they're still accessible they will never be more than a shadow of what we remember. And i think that nostalgia affects how we view the game sometimes, as my friend pointed out.

But **bleep** it, this move just isn't right. I remember Dice trying to add a competetive mode to BF4 and it flunked hard because the majority wasn't interested in it. Same with the Firestorm BR in BF5.

Why is it so hard for the board members, leads or whomever is making the decisions to just keep Battlefield Battlefield? It's almost like it's a foreign concept.

It is true however that the devs are trying, and i'm commending their work on the game and the communication with the players. The new maps have shortcomings, either being to small or poorly designed in some aspects. Open weapons as default without having the ability to select closed weapons in custom search is also a misfire, And the community server browser is just awful, as well as the UI.

At the same time, i can't help but enjoy the core game. Conquest is basically all i'm playing now, as i used to be a HUGE rush fan. But rush feels horrible in bf6, maybe because i'm older and slower or maybe because the maps don't feel designed for the game mode. Damavand Peak and Isla Inocentes still remaining my favourites.

I hope that i'm proven wrong in the long run, and that BF6 will turn out to be a step in the direction back towards the Battlefield, not out of bounds.
