Re: Battlefield 6 - Community Update - Play Your Way

My main focus from the community update, specifically this portion: "Lastly, another key insight from the Open Beta was that the vast majority of players, after trying both playlist types, chose to stick with Open Weapons. This reinforces our belief that Open Weapons is the right path forward for Battlefield 6." Respectfully, how did you come to this conclusion, unbiased?" Of course, the open weapons playlist is going to be more popular, for one, it's the default gamemode that alone is going to skew the data. That's not mentioning the fact that Open Weapons had more game modes available to them and that closed weapons were hidden off-screen for a portion of the beta. Aside from that, did you already forget about 2042? Just ask yourselves, do you believe the data would be the same if the roles were reversed, where closed weapons were the default and open weapons were hidden off-screen with limited game modes?

  • Let me quote the important part, emphasis mine: "...majority of players, after trying both playlist types, chose to stick with Open Weapons...". So not only that the players they are talking about seen the Open and Close options, they even tried it and then decided to stick with Open. In other words, they are talking about players that tried both modes, not all players, so there is just a very little or no bias. I think their statement and reasoning is pretty clear.

I think you ignored the fact that I also said there were more game modes available to open weapons. Even I, who prefers closed weapons, played a good bit of open weapons because of the game modes like rush or breakthrough. For example, in the beta conquest and breakthrough were combined under one playlist at one point for closed weapons, and I couldn't for the life of me get a closed weapon breakthrough match so I went into open weapons breakthrough just so I could play the mode.

It depends what playlists they measured, when, and how - I assume that the stats were made against relevant playlists or there was some compensation as any sane person would do, for example (as far as I remember) there were Open conquest and Closed conquest in the first beta week. Same mode, same maps, the only difference was open vs closed weapons (which also means no bias for these lists).

Except if you wanted to complete the in game challenges you HAD TO PLAY OPEN.
The data was manipulated. We all know it was.

As I said in other post here - depends what exactly they measured, when, and how. I don't know their methodology and you don't know their methodology either. I assume that they know what they are doing and thus their statements are correct (as they must be aware that players will eat them alive for any inaccuracy). Any claims that "the data was manipulated" seems pretty unfair to me. But if it was manipulated - prove it beyond any doubts and then there can be made a discussion about it.

I don't recall that being a thing. The challenges were largely very simple and I myself did both versions and got progress in both. Maybe there was some weird bug for some folks but yeah no it definitely worked open or closed.
