Reduce Thermal Sight Visibility Range for Better Gameplay
Hello DICE,
I would like to share some feedback regarding thermal sights in Battlefield 6.
In my opinion, the game would be much more enjoyable if the visibility range of thermal sights was reduced. At the moment, thermal optics are extremely common and it often feels like most players are using them. Because of this, thermal sights have become almost a mandatory choice rather than an optional playstyle.
Personally, I would prefer to play without thermal optics, but in the current state of the game it feels like a disadvantage not to use them. Thermal sights are frequently used by players holding angles and waiting for enemies rather than actively pushing objectives. This encourages passive gameplay and camping instead of objective-focused combat.
The issue is especially noticeable on Hardcore servers. Attacking objectives can be very difficult because defenders can easily spot enemies with thermal optics. As a result, many players become afraid to push forward and matches become slower and less dynamic.
I believe reducing the visibility range of thermal sights would encourage more movement, reduce camping, improve teamwork, and allow players to choose other optics without feeling forced to use thermals.
I also wonder about the purpose of Night Vision optics. Currently there are no dedicated night maps where Night Vision has a meaningful role. If thermal sights remain highly effective in most situations, Night Vision optics have very little reason to exist.
I hope DICE will consider adjusting thermal sight visibility range in a future update. I believe this change would improve gameplay balance and make both normal and Hardcore servers more enjoyable.
Thank you for your time.
