Remove passive spotting & spot overhead markers

Hi!

I think spot marker was thought to help weaker player still to get kills and have better visibility, but in reality, it works the opposite way, it helps hardcore player against weaker because parts as suppressor which hide the spotting when firing are unlocked just later after grinding many hours for each weapon (I think for snipers is around 40 mastery), it just a matter of time and everyone will use suppressor because the mark overhead is too great of a disadvantage.

Hardcore players are those that can keep the aim on a target spotted from distance more easily too, I think I am a good player, but lobbies are quite hard nowadays and this spot system with battlefield netcode problems makes it even harder to enjoy matches.

Many times, you are left wondering why you have been killed across the map, lasered by some random dude at 100m with an assault rifle, I think in part that is due to spotting (or else everyone is playing on a 60inch monitor), spotting has been greatly reduce since the beta but I think it's broken at its core design idea and should be eliminated.

Back in the day there was no spot markers, and everyone had fun, it wasn't a problem.

If the game has visibility issue than they must be solved in the engine instead of going round the issue causing more problems.

I think in the last few years visibility got worse for many many games, due to TAA and other rendering techniques such as DLSS and the overuse of sharpening filters, but the solution could not be spot marker because of its implication gameplay wise.

Best!

  • Spotting is fine as it is.

Bf3 had spotting, bf4 had spotting, bf1 had spotting, bfv did not and was horrible, 2042 had too much spotting now spotting is back in an ok place.

Basically battlefield has always had spotting apart from hardcore mode which they should bring back ASAP btw.

What we need is a way to know you have been spotted.

Spotting in Battlefield 6 is somewhat different though. The fact that you can get 3d spotted by shooting an unsuppressed gun is new and does lead to you getting spotted in situations you wouldn't otherwise have been.

I didn't realise you get spotted in world by firing an un suppressed gun, I thought it just mini map spotted you, that does need changing then.

Firing should show you on the mini map but not in world.

Which brings up the point of how to know if you are spotted or not apart from the gunfire coming at you?

Yeah, I want to specify I was talking just about the in-world spotting, in minimap spotting is fine!
