Roof Exploits

They have to make some of these roofs out of bounds areas. Almost every map has a roof people exploit to camp the whole game, I don’t know why this is a hard thing to change. Either make it out of bounds or allow us to take the entire building down.

  • I like this out of bounds idea.

With it, they could make the assault ladder not a fussy, borderline useless tool. Let it work anywhere within its length restriction instead of arbitrarily stopping it at edges deemed undesirable.

If you want to make a ladder to the out of bounds zone, go ahead. You've got whatever the count-down is to make something of it.

Currently it's real annoying when you can stand next to a 8-10ft wall with enemy players above it, but because it's supposed to be out of bounds, your ladder suddenly can't reach.

I'll add, if they're going to make certain roof tops OoB AND make my suggested ladder tweak (won't happen), make the OoB zone a few feet all around said roof, so you can't just slap a ladder on the edge and stand on it right next to the zone.

Depending how OoB zones are defined in the code I could see none of this being possible though (read: too much work to be worth it). They may not allow for vertical limits ie: OoB zone on roof = whole building now OoB.

Anyway, that's my 2-cents. As an assault ladder enthusiast.

  • Was playing a game of escalation on Siege of Cairo and noticed that some folks got out of bounds near Checkpoint F on the NATO side. They were on top of a building and I'm not sure how they got up there. Regardless, it probably needs to be patched.

Marksman_Mark  I tried using the assault ladder once and it didn’t help me climb the wall, it introduced me to it. At high velocity Lol. Those jumping bug things are so annoying, constantly popping up into the air walking over things.

  • Just an FYI that I've merged two seemingly related threads together.

There's a cheese maneuver you can pull with the Recon Drone I've seen (saw two guys on one drone the other day). I think you need a guy flying it up while the other stands on it and hits it with the sledge or something. This lets it fly higher than it's supposed to. Buddy jumps off on the roof and plants a spawn beacon or just waits for his squad to spawn on him.

They get points for team work but it can be pretty annoying. It really breaks the spawns on some maps if they can get a good vantage point on the base.

See also the Sledghammer Drone exploit.

If you ever try to deploy a mortar as support it restricts placement. I'm surprised the ladder doesn't have some of that encoded.

Woody051 it does have that sort of encoding. That's what makes it so you can't reach the roof tops the boys get on with the drone cheese with the ladder. As soon as you try to place it within a meter or so of a rooftop it goes red.

I'd argue that if the map has air vehicles on it there shouldn't be any restriction anyways, Manhattan Bridge for example stops the ladder from reaching certain edges even though there are helicopters that can drop a guy anywhere.
