Probably an unpopular opinion from me, but I think playing a sniper in the older games was harder and required more skill to land good shots.
The sniper system in BF6 is IMO very.....rewarding in a sense that it feels too easy to kill someone. The lack/limited amount of bullet drop or travel time removes all the learning us snipers from previous battlefield games had to endure to be decent.
Suppression was heavy in the older games and you had to make every shot count. This game, not so much.
I would also say a contributing factor IMO is the balancing (made easier) for the console platform which would have difficulty aiming and accounting for things like bullet drop because they aim with their thumbs/aim assist.
The more difficult something is, the less people do it.
