The shotgun pulling 134 damage is insane, it needs to be nerfed to 90 damage so that any other weapon at least has a chance to counter. There are squads teaming up with shotguns and flashlights blinding opponents getting..in my last game 25-2, 20-1, 18-0 k/d. Just shows how broken it is. We don't even have time to ADS our weapon, split second, boom dead.
If it does 134 damage to you, you simply were too close.

Shotgun won't kill you at distance. It will when next to you. As it should.
The interesting thing about shotguns is that they don't do that 134 damage all the time. They only do it if all the pellets hit. In terms of TTK shotguns are a one trick pony. They have better TTK than the competition if you hit at least 100 damage, but have worse TTK as soon as you need a second shot.
That makes them particularly vulnerable to spread and damage drop off. This also means that any damage nerf that makes shotguns 2 shots to kill, would render pretty much every shotgun in the game worthless. As they'd just be outclassed by SMGs in every possible way. So no, it doesn't need to be nerfed to 90 damage.
They were just trolling you. Organized squads could likely get similar scores with any gun in the game.
Yes, i'm talking about the close quarter maps, of course it's only there that it happens, it's rare to see shotguns in larger maps but in small maps you see like 4 or 5, the only way i can beat them is if i switch to shotgun myself. so there it begins, either i die all the time not having the slightest chance to contest or i play all these maps with a shotgun that i don't enjoy.
Imo there's absolutely no skill involved using a shotgun, so i'd rather see them worthless, at least when an AR or an SMG start shooting at you, you still have a chance to counter. I played shotguns a few times, i simply don't anymore because it feels like i'm cheating.
If an enemy gets a clean hit on you within 5-6meters with a shottie, you should be dead, everytime. Now if this happens from 30m regularly then it's a problem. If shotties aren't powerful in very close quarters then what's the point of them?
100% agree. The by far most overpowered weapon in the game is the shotgun. I am not sure if nerfing the damage is the best way to balance it though. I think it should still be able to one shot at very close range, but the damage drop off should be harsher and perhaps the bullet spread should be slightly increased. At the moment the one shot range is too far, especially with how quick the weapon is.
Yeah, I got blasted on one of the city maps by a shotty and flashlight. Came into a building, saw the enemy, got blinded and Blam! No time to react. I thought it was crappy, but then realized it was a pretty good game mechanic using flashlight and shotgun in close quarters...I should have thought of that!!
So what if there's no skill involved? Weapons aren't balanced around skill to begin with.
I'm getting 1 shot from shotguns from 20-30 meters...they are definitely not fine.
The one I think should still have higher damage at further distances is the slug. I remember sighting in my own shotgun with slugs at 50 yards for deer season. Up close any shotgun blast should be an instant kill though. Birdshot obviously should taper off the further the distance. Maybe 15 yards or so? If I don't want to bother with shotguns or go into a shotgun situation, I usually avoid those spots or shoot from outside the building, not go in. Let the rest of your team go in while you blast the enemy trying to enter from the outside.
