Skins Discussion
It may have already been raised in a thread here but I wanted to discuss the skins. Whilst I think most of the skins are fine in the ‘grounded’ sense. I also think they are relatively ‘low-res’ by which I mean many lack any significant amount of detail or nuance.
Most are block coloured, shaded too brightly and look brand new (no wear and tear etc). As I seen someone point out some of the uniforms and skins from the campaign even would have worked really well for generic soldier skins.
There is also the backlash around some of the new skins coming in season 1 - in my opinion while the look of them is ok the colour palette is just too bright. The blue for instance would be fine if toned down a bit. But it will be quite jarring to see a bright blue uniformed solider running around Siege of Cairo.
I have also touched on weapon skins previously, so much could be done here that is still grounded. Instead of overly bright camo tone them down slightly, the camo itself is fine but don’t make them look freshly spray painted. Also add skins which add details, some webbing or cloth around a barrel for instance. Just something for some character.
Overall a large part of my point is the colour palette - it is too bright and on some skins then verges on looking cartoonish. If they were dulled down they would look a lot better.
If the child brain ADHDers need bright colours to attract them, well COD had plenty.
I don’t take credit for the images below but they are added for reference.
